AFAIK its pretty close to the book, but he did add parts in like the battle with the necromancer (which was referred to by tolkien later after he wrote the hobbit), and the love triangle stuff. But that didn't bother me. Legolas also wasn't in the book because he hadn't been invented yet, but it kind of makes sense he was in this as a nice link to the LOTR series as he's from the same area the elves are in for this movie. Man I need to finish watching the last LOTR movie. Never ended up seeing it, but its such a huge commitment with it being 4 hours long :v: hard to find the time at night to watch it.

I still haven't seen the 2nd Hobbit yet :,c
