Holy crap, Skype has been absolutely RAPING the usability of my computer. As soon as I oipen it up everything start's becoming unusable, just freezes up. As soon as I kill the Skype process, everything starts running fine. The fuck.
I've been noticing that too, mostly with the fact that when it starts up and just uses all the processing power it can grab (for a 32bit program) before calming down.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/HHEK7CV.png[/thumb] so this is pretty nice google hangout chat is bloaty with its quote box per message structure, but you can post images into it
If you want to go back to basic text you can use Hangouts via Gmail. Not sure if it's using the older XMPP system or not though. I find the quote boxes to be good and makes the whole service look better visually. Maybe it's just me.
Just got done running on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I often underestimate how much fitness can be used to make me feel better when I'm feeling down. It's not really a cure, but it's a definite help.
Can you make a 'group'? IDK how skype's works either, my guess is that in both hangouts and skype there must always be someone in a group to hold it open, unlike steam? (though steam can't video chat)
You can make a group and add a bunch of people to it. When inside, you can send links, text, photos to everyone and even do a group voice and video call. Although the video call is limited to 10 people who are providing an upstream (webcam, screenshare). https://support.google.com/a/answer/1261833?hl=en You can get up to 15 with Google+ premium which is basically Google Apps for Business. It may also be easier if people were added into a Google+ circle. Also, the text chat supports 100 people. https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/3111943?hl=en And you can do Hangout parties https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1215273?hl=en&topic=1257349&ctx=topic
Isn't that only when the webpage is open though?
Isn't that only when the webpage is open though?
There's also a desktop notification service for it. But you could just have it opened via your Gmail or Google+ on whatever Internet browser you're using. Or you could easily access it using your mobile phone/tablet.
I try to close most other applications when I play games to boost performance. Having skype, steam, AND webbrowser is kind of a lot of stress on my cpu (cpu, right?) :c
We should just make a group hangout or something, although it'd be pretty weird considering I'd have to get used to everybody's real name if they actually used theirs
did anyone make this yet? If not I will. I guess how this will work is that PM me your G+ profile unless you want to share it to everyone, I'll make a new circle and add everyone into it, then set up the Hangouts and we'll see how this goes from there. Anyone has questions or issues, you can ask me via here or PM.
My dogs fast asleep on my bed and she looks adorable. I wish my phone battery didn't die so i could get a picture of her :v:
My dogs fast asleep on my bed and she looks adorable. I wish my phone battery didn't die so i could get a picture of her :v:
It's cute until you realise you have a dog on your bed and shit you want to sleep
It's cute until you realise you have a dog on your bed and shit you want to sleep
Eh she'll be moving once my sister comes upstairs, for now I get to appreciate her adorableness.
New Vsauce episode. It involves butts.
My dogs fast asleep on my bed and she looks adorable. I wish my phone battery didn't die so i could get a picture of her :v:
When I had a dog I hated when he did that because he just farted all the time and it was gross to think about it tainting my blankets with its gas.
I went to the pub and the door opened into my face just as I was entering. I got a bump on the head and a free drink.
I love the UK culture of "I mildly inconvenienced you in a pub, here's a drink on me".
The worst part of living here and also the best part is bumping into someone, then awkwardly trying to get around them while both of you keep apologising to each other until you both manage to move in the other direction and pass by each other. It's simultaneously hilarious and embarrassing to be a part of.
I love the UK culture of "I mildly inconvenienced you in a pub, here's a drink on me".
I love the everywhere culture of apologizing and compensating for it.
I went to the pub and the door opened into my face just as I was entering. They cost the same. I want a bigger glass!
An accurate representation of hospitality in America.
Dang thats a lot of violence for a childrens cartoon. I wonder how many children have died trying to reenact crap they see on tv.
I love the everywhere culture of apologizing and compensating for it.
I don't I'm a social darwinist If someone opens a door into your face it's your own fault because you're weak and inferior
Dang thats a lot of violence for a childrens cartoon. I wonder how many children have died trying to reenact crap they see on tv.
Since when did you become a concerned parent?
(I'm not a social darwinist don't worry)
American hospitality is surprisingly generous according to some euros I know who's been here.
Funny that we aren't hospitable to ourselves in most cases, but that probably goes for a lot of places.
I love the everywhere culture of apologizing and compensating for it.
It's not many places that if you accidentally bump into someone you buy them alcohol. Usually people just say "oh, sorry" and go on.
It's not many places that if you accidentally bump into someone you buy them alcohol. Usually people just say "oh, sorry" and go on.
Specifically alcohol isn't universal I guess. But when I lived in Canada I had a friend who had their foot run over at a petrol station and he bought the person who ran over his foot a packet of doughnuts.
"Oh sorry my foot was in the way of your car."
