That's why you see plenty of Aussies at american and European cons, but hardly any Americans or Europeans at Australian cons.

Ironically of course, i'm not a furry at all[/QUOTE] the people who attend every con and buy every art ever got their jobs just like every other successful person does. also contrary to popular belief being a huge not-artist furry doesn't really affect your actual life unless you're already really fucked up. i mean, let's make up a strawman furry here. let's say he buys several art pieces for himself online every few months, attends 2 cons (one local, one far away) every year, and has a suit. suits are anywhere from 500-6000(?) dollars, depending on if you make it yourself, commission it from someone, or buy a premade one. cons really depend, but on average i'm going to say people spend ~100 dollars on food and merch. that's what i did. then there's transportation and hotel stuff, so... 200-1000 per con, depending on distance, what you buy, where you stay. like for me i'd probably need to save up more than 600 bucks to attend AC on the other side of the country. so that's like, what, several thousand dollars over the course of a decade, maybe? and maybe 2 or 3 weekends for cons? it's not as life-absorbing as people make it out to be; you or your friends most likely spend that much on your own hobbies. Hobbies in general are expensive. Furry related things are no different. For example, I spent 3500 last year on my car, and probably 3000 the year before, not counting the value of the car either. We all have our hobbies and some are more expensive than others. To some, they're useless as they have no interests in them, to others, who share the same interests as you, are pretty normal.

I collect mini RC helicopters, have yet to step up to the pro league and invest in one of those mammoth ones.

tbh i've kind of fallen out of a lot of my hobbies. most of my friends stopped playing airsoft and my shit broke, so that's 1000+ dollars down the drain, and i don't really play pc games that much anymore so my 1000 dollar computer is going to be a paper weight in a few years. anime and furry bullshit's all i really got, and it's not much. i don't even really create anything, i just spend spend speeeend. i guess con-attending could be considered a hobby in and of itself, but i really wanna do more. Comparing a knitted ball of cotton comprised of 3 colors that probably took less than 2 hours to make to Leonardo DaVinci's greatest work isn't really fair.

It's a really skewed culuture but you have to admit there are a good deal of artists who really abuse their fans and charge rather high amounts. It just seems like a broken system at times, a lot of artists just never really shine because they don't draw porn, some limit themselves to just porn and don't really try to bud out and do more with their talent. Shame it seems you need to draw poon to get popularity in a lot of cases.
