Speaking of hobbies. Say hello to ant queen butt and her 3 workers. Under the queen is a pile of about 15 eggs, but you can't really see them. It's sort of neat having and watching a little animal breed and start its own little home and family in captivity.
Built a sweet ant farm!
To be fair, I've never heard of someone who spends their social security checks building FPV drones or milling engines out (aside from retired people)
Well... there was that guy who pretty much used his life savings to build a spider robot in the woods. Granted people being obsessed about making models and robots and stuff to the point of blowing literally all their money on it are probably much much less common than people apart of fandoms essentially doing the same thing. [editline]21st January 2014[/editline]
I've seen people barely making ends meet because they wanted those 2000$ wheels so bad.
And this. We have section 8 housing right behind where I work (aka most of the people there rely on welfare checks to help make ends meet), its surprising just how many people there who own cars spend assloads of money blinging them out, no matter how old they are. The funniest one was a guy who has giant rims installed to a raised ford taurus from 1998. It looked so goofy :v: I was just thinking when I saw it that his car situation would have looked much better if he just spent thousands on getting a more up to date car instead.
How difficult is water-skiing? I wanted to try it once but my balance is pretty dreadful.
Takes a bit of getting used to, but it's quite fun once you master it. I generally do kneeboarding more than anything just because that's what I am best it. It absolutely kills you though, as it strains most muscles in your body.

I also had an incentive to stay standing up because the water was so freaking cold...
I've seen people barely making ends meet because they wanted those 2000$ wheels so bad.
I live near Detroit, so
I used to airsoft, but the fields I used are gone and blocked off. And the official playing areas are terrible. I haven't airsofted since I was 16 or so. It's been so long.
Have you ever considered trying out paintball? It's a lot like airsoft gameplay wise, a little more fast paced even. I used to play airsoft as well, but I was dragged into the paintball scene by a group of friends.
Built a sweet ant farm! Just don't do what garry did and drown them
Can I get source on that? Also, was browsing around and someone managed to get downvoted to Satan's Number.
Built a sweet ant farm! Just don't do what garry did and drown them
Traditional dirt antfarms are a nightmare to take care of due to cleaning and moisture and the risk of the chambers collapsing. Most antfarm hobbyists tend to use specially made formicariums:

But I'm not dissing paintball, it is fun too. Thing with both is that you need friends to play with and good fields. Now that comes from a guy who sold both airsoft and paintballs for 3 years, repaired both of them and was staff on an official field too.

If not a cqc match in airsoft can be tense and fast paced as hell. Paintball to me just offers less fun, its something that seems to be more suited for those bored on the weekend and want to shoot their friends up. I know airsoft can be summed up in the same way but with airsoft you get more interesting loadouts, guns are more interesting and fun and much more tweakable than a typical paintball gun.

I've tried paintball, but the places for it have shitty outdoor places and too many pro players. I'd rather play a more relaxed version with friends with house rules or something.
super happy positive feeling upd8 on:
apparently my bf didn't tell me that he was already in a relationship with a girl before we met, and the reason why he pursued a relationship with me was because he quickly discovered that i'm polyamorous (he and his gf are too). a little peeved that he didn't tell me at first but it doesn't change anything. so uhh... i could potentially have both a boyfriend and a girlfriend pretty soon :v: if not it'll be linear polyamory with him in the middle and i have a feeling things would fall apart, but i've talked to the girl for a few hours and things don't seem to be heading that way. we'll see though. [editline]12th January 2014[/editline] the hard part: we all live in different states
my mom doesn't "agree" with me being in any poly relationship she thinks it's "immoral" she thinks either i would be in, or have my own harem. she thinks i would be dividing my love amongst the people i'm in a relationship with INSTEAD of mirroring the love to each person she thinks it's "icky" to be in an intimate relationship with more than 1 person. she would vote against any initiative that gives poly groups more rights and she thinks i will "learn my lesson when" someone in the relationship leaves because of lack of attention, or i myself feel like i'm not getting enough attention. this woman is hella conservative, but despite that she’s accepting of me being bisexual and bigender. this really surprised me... "ew" "icky" "wrong" "don't do that" offended at a deeper level than personal how the FUCK does anyone draw the line at polyamory??? does ANY of this make sense??????? trembling/crying irl
I had a gel ant farm once, they died when my sister dug a pit to the bottom, two of the ants fought, gladatorial style for supremacy, until they both fell down the hole to their deaths. I, as the emperor, was greatly amused but it was a waste of an ant farm.
We're getting several inches of snow here today, but that's not really the most noteworthy thing about this. My sister has only been to school like two days since before Christmas break due to the extreme cold, that chemical leak the contaminated the water, and then more snow!
if you really want to get into a hobby, building models is a good place to start. especially gundam models. you can get yourself everything you need including a model kit for like, 30 dollars.
Following random instructables and making cool shit is fun on a budget, too, and you can often make something very cool or useful out of it while bettering your skills in stuff like that. And after a certain point, you can come across an instructable or an idea and have the skills and tools necessary to improve or build something on your own, too! [editline]21st January 2014[/editline] building stuff is fun.
I had a dream where our house was invaded by many types of beetles. It was gross and apparently quite scary to me. I'm not even afraid of beetles afaik.
I have a hobby, no one would ever guess what it could possibly be. It's nice to have something you are passionate about and can enjoy pretty much any time and in any mood.
Like everything: watching/reading about this kinda stuff is much better.

Being in a serious relationship and caring about someone is already a lot and both members have to make a lot of sacrifices and I don't think that translates well to 3 or more people.

[editline]21st January 2014[/editline] Universally held hobbies are no longer hobbies.
The problem is it usually doesn't work as there will tend to be a stronger couple out of the bunch and it will usually end up with the other person getting the short end of the stick. So basically you're dating someone and then he/she is like oh hey I'm polyamorous so the other goes with it to not lose that person and then ends up being the third wheel in what used to be her/his own couple.

They then learn themselves. If people didn't try the times when it does work would never have happened.
Its really fucking hard having the same feelings for 2 people at the same time
You don't have to exactly have the same feelings, tho a lot of the support for monogamy is just western culture (not saying that in a good amount of cases it doesn't work but that's true for any kind of relationship and people are rather malleable)
