thanks guys, I think things are starting to look up now

Seeing my family doctor this afternoon to talk about the prospect of medication for my depression, along with referrals to some therapists, and finally about a virus that I haven't been able to shake over two weeks. Wish me luck! Terrified about everything. Even if I don't post much or anything, the knowledge of this place existing and the ability to leave messages here, and have people read them, means a lot to me. Especially since I'm pretty sure my college's LGBT group dissolved during my second year here; I'm just starting to see fliers around about starting up a new one.

I am so hungry and there's nothing to eat :(

Talk about a lucky break... The past days have been exceptionally shit for me. First a little bit of background. I'm freelancing but my country has state healthcare and retirement funds. BUT you only get those if you're employed under contract or registered as unemployed. Your alternative is to switch to private healthcare, which is expensive as fuck and lose your right to retirement funds later in life due to inactivity. Self-employed people and freelancers have a really hard time around here, because they end up unable to get medical help or lose their retirement funds. Since I think I'll need to retire some day I registered unemployed while merrily working small freelancing projects, refining my portfolio and getting ready for my big application binge. I had a convention for Game designers coming up, where major studios would come to check out your work and hand out around 100 labor contracts every year. I have been hard at work, getting the best possible portfolio for the event and I was in the middle of my preparations when I get a call from the employment center, I'm supposed to take a 7 week, 8AM to 6PM course in employment, starting monday. Now I don't need welfare at all, it's all about retirement and health care so I start panicking. I can't stack boxes and collect litter for 7 weeks when I'm about to dish out applications and visit foreign studios so I ask them to hold the course off so I can get a part-time job for the time being. Request denied. Now these people know what I do. If they were any friendly at all, they would have given me a heads up so I can go get part-time work for a few hours and be done with it but they gave me this big middle finger just before the weekend where I can barely do anything against it. Also, if I don't sign in, they'll throw me out of the system. That was when I really panicked. I don't want to lose my right to retirement funds over some silly appointment. How am I going to get anything done if I'm in a course for uneducated chavs in the crucial week before everything takes off? Well, fuck me, I had 2 days to think of something. On top of all the stress from preparation and work, I now had this bullshit. My nerves were shot. Done. I was a mess. Couldn't eat a bite for a day, worried to no end. This could have been a downward spiral for everything. Just then, a few days later a friend of my father's is over for a visit. I didn't know at the time but he has a HUGE, successful company for sports apparel with their own production and manufacturing. He saw a gaming magazine on the table and it turns out he's a gamer. We chat, we talk about my 3D-work and he offers me a job. Just like that. A well-paid, neat little job that I can even take part-time so I can still do my game design work. I just sent him my application and portfolio but it's really a formality at this point. So yeah, I was on the brink of collapse the one day and now I'm becoming a gay fashion designer. Wow.
