Sorry, but I hope you guys don't mind if I vent here. I just had the "are you gay?" conversation with my parents. How the hell do you go about telling your parents you're gay? I ended up lying to them, just because I was afraid of what they might do or think.

I ended up lying to them, just because I was afraid of what they might do or think.[/QUOTE] it's not really the easiest thing in the world to do so don't be upset if you didn't manage to let them know right away :/ I once mentioned to my dad that I was feeling quite depressed and he was trying to guess why that might've been, and he asked if I had feelings for guys and I had to say no, even though he told me he'd be all right with it, I just wasn't really ready to tell him something like that then and there when you're comfortable with your situation and you feel it's time to tell them, that's when you should let them know, it helps when you have good, close, supportive friends who you know will stick by you through anything if something were to not go the way you wanted it to

I said I'm just not interested (which was true, I wasn't interested in dating regardless of sex). At that point, I was still discovering who I was sexuality-wise. However the question of "are you gay?" blind-sighted me out of nowhere, so the involuntary response was no. It was an honest question, but holy shit I was nowhere close to ready. Still haven't told them (or anyone else IRL). I would imagine they are fairly open minded about it since they have gay friends. I'm just sort of waiting until I'm absolutely sure, like I have a boyfriend, sure.
