After heavily following what's going on in Syria and eastern europe, I almost feel like getting angry when I go into my moms room and she's casually watching TMZ.
At least she's watching TMZ instead of Toddlers in Tiaras :c
How can anyone enjoy that monstrosity?
My mom watches reality shows all the time.
All of them are the same, it seems like.

Life carries on man. Why get angry? Is she aware of the war? Does she know about it?
I mean there's not a whole lot most of us can do. I'm not going to abandon my life and join the cause and many people share my sentiment. It's not selfish either, i follow the news (not heavily but im usually fairly up to date) on it and i learn about it, but i'm not going to uproot my life because there's a conflict somewhere in the world.
If humans always had to join on all the conflicts going on in the world no progress would really be made because of the constant set backs.
Sure probably things like TMZ and Toddler's and Tiaras probably don't help the stereotype of the ignorant just watching some rich motherfuckers whine about shit to people with cameras, but you're thinking much to into it.
Well, here we go, first day and first time ever of full time work.
There's literally nothing you can do, I agree.
After the collapse of the economy, the West isn't in much of a state to help except for sending in food and medical supplies.
[editline]9th February 2014[/editline]
The medical and food supplies still get regularly intercepted by the rebels and the armies and used to fuel the war though, sadly.

Sounds both exciting and agonizing at the same time. Regardless, we wish you the best of luck ❤

I have to take my parents' 4WD in to the electrical mechanic people because the brake lights are stuck on.
Unfortunately the battery is disconnected while I wait, and I can't open the bonnet of the car because I don't know how it works/am too weak, so I can't reconnect the battery to start it when I need to :v:
Alright here's a question that's been bugging me for a while and you guys seemed like the best people to ask:
I don't understand transgenderism whatsoever, the fact that people say they are another gender is really odd to me and I would really like an explanation.
Sorry if any of it comes off as rude.

It really seems like something that you can only truly understand if you actually are transgender. I've given the idea of it a lot of thought before but it simply doesn't make sense to me personally. That's not to objectify or disrespect them at all, I'm just saying I have a hard time comprehending it.

It will be very hard to empathize with transgendered people. For most of us, gay or straight, our sex lines up perfectly with our identified gender. That makes it very hard to relate since while sexuality is incredibly complex and fluid, understanding your gender is something most of us take for granted. That's my take on it at least.
I for one could not possibly imagine what it would be like to feel like a woman in a man's body.

Gender is a social construct. In the US for instance, gender is divided between women and men, and based on how people identify you, they'll have different expectations of you. You'll also have different expectations of yourself based on how you identify.
Other cultures have different expectations, and sometimes different genders. Many people in India recognize 3 genders, for instance.
I personally don't care about my gender identity and will do what I please.

I'm curious on why you chose the Gay chat to ask over the actual Transgender chat.
In any case, transgender people are mentally the gender they identify as. Iirc studies have shown a male to female transgender person possesses a female brain in their male body. They developed in the womb with a mismatched brain to their body, so a mtf would take on feminine traits naturally compared to someone entirely male because that's just how their mind developed.
It's hard to get if you aren't transgender or don't talk to transgender people.

I have spoken to a number of transgender people about this stuff and I still make mistakes on the matter. It's incredibly complex. I find it is better to always make it clear you really don't know much at all.

I still mix up pronouns now on people I don't talk to very much. More often than not transgender people know it's a mistake and it's not easy to grasp.
But if you do it deliberately (not you specifically), then you're an asshole, and it's easy to tell when people do it on purpose.

Isn't that literally just the south asian way to say transgendered?
"Hijra", as with many aforementioned terms is one of the many terms in the culture of South Asia used to refer individuals who consider themselves as transexual or transgender.
yep

It can sort of go the other way around too. I was talking to a group of people, one person who was transgender. I refered to him as a she (physical sex is female). And out of nowhere they lashed out at me "wtf, I'm on not a 'she' I'm a guy!"
Seriously, I just met you. How the hell would I ever have guessed that?

Well of course, but like most things they would be the minority. You can go to the TG thread here with absolutely no idea of what transgenderism is and they will be perfectly happy to chat to you about it and tell you about all these various things to do with it.
But it would be wrong to assume all transgender people are going to be upset at you, it's just not true. It's a hard enough life without making enemies straight off the bat.

True. I'm sure most are reasonable. That particular person just stood out in my mind as how not to handle someone making a mistake about your gender. That's a one way street to people not taking you seriously, or at least thinking your an asshole.

Yeah, transgender people would frown upon someone being like that. It helps nothing except paint all of them as irritable.
