Valentine's Day is one of those days that I don't like to think about. That and my birthday.
Windows Update sure is amazing. I just love getting disconnected from a game of Borderlands 2 with my friends without warning, and then having my computer restart before I can even tell them I'll probably be going for tonight.
You can change those options, dummy.
It's only good when you're not using the computer at night, so I put mine around 1AM in the morning so when I'm sleeping, it updates, reboots, and begins serving again.
I havent even updated my windows install. whats windows 8.1 is like?
I havent even updated my windows install. whats windows 8.1 is like?
Well I don't know how it is compared to 8 because when I did the switch but for a laptop I'd recommend it and for a desktop I would say keep 7
I havent even updated my windows install. whats windows 8.1 is like?
It adds useful settings such as: It also adds the start button back, and numerous other fixes/changes.

I use classic shell, and it seems to do a decent job at keeping metro contained along with a nice little start menu for comfort.
I tried to ring up to get my benefits reinstated. They work by your payment, so if you make too much money they cut them off. They cut them off for me pretty much the week work cut my hours. Anyway, I rang to get them put back on and then if work improves or I get another job they can be cut again. "Your estimated wait time to reach an operator is 60 minutes." Yeah, no. Not waiting that long.

I normally shutdown my computers at night anyway. [editline]12th February 2014[/editline]
Would you recomend it over regular 8? Classic shell also works perfectly, in case your wondering. I can't think of a single thing that was better back in 8. 8.1 is definitely worth the update.

So I decided to virtual machine Windows 8.1, so how can I make it so it doesn't virtual machine, instead it runs as the only os?
So I decided to virtual machine Windows 8.1, so how can I make it so it doesn't virtual machine, instead it runs as the only os?
You install from a DVD/USB drive like you normally would?
You install from a DVD/USB drive like you normally would?
I installed on virtual machine using an iso
I installed on virtual machine using an iso
You mean like you want to run it as your native computer OS? Burn it to DVD or make a bootable USB drive with the ISO and install it.
You mean like you want to run it as your native computer OS?
So do I simply burn the single iso as an iso file directly onto the DVD or do I have to do some sort of extracting in order for it to run?
You burn the ISO using an ISO burning utility, since the ISO is file representation of the physical DVD. Windows 7 has a utility built in. Just right click the ISO and click "Burn disc image". I'm sort of surprised you haven't done this before.
Ooookay, i updated my windows 8 install, and from what I gather, I use the windows store app to upgrade. However, nothing happens when I click windows 8.1 on the store :suicide:
Finally got around taking a picture of my kitchen and living room, almost done now, only gotta fit in the dishwasher and finish the counter and make them final. 'Cause they be fitting with my new house, since well, it's my new house, only been living here since like 5 days. [t]http://i.imgur.com/3k8StNH.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/1orTFu0.jpg[/t]
Comfy
That living room needs more entertainment center.
A 47" TV, a Wi-fi smart blueray player and a cable DVR box with all channels we need is plenties. Couple that with 20mbps, unlimited bandwidth and a dual band router with a 500GB NAS connected to it. I think that's enough entertainment in the living room.
I mean it needs more shelf space. Also, my windows product key is apperantly not recognized by microsoft. Kill me.
I don't like those giant windows with no curtains behind the couch. 0/10 Jk it looks nice, but i hate having a window with no curtains.
Oh, well behind me in that photo we have a beer fridge and freezer, some shelf with storage and the internet things, a big shelf next to it, two more sofas. It's pretty nice! Trust me I hate having windows without curtains, but eh, curtains are expensive as fuck. It's a minimum of 100$ for the two windows for CHEAP walmart curtains and poles. Windows are huge. It's just that with the move and all, money is a bit rare.
Uhh, how about this. The TV looks weird being almost crammed into that little shelf, like it'll fall off at any moment.

Always found using usb drives faster but I don't have any available usb for the job but a stack of DVDs.
Ohh, that's what you meant! Well, the TV stand is fully on the shelf at least. So I doubt we're going to replace something that fits the duty well for no reasons other than to gain a foot to fit the TV bezel. Not like we actually have anything risky going on near the TV.
