pretty much what most facepunchers are used to anyways
I'd rather be dead then spend my entire life on the computer. Unfortunately it's one of the few things I have to do right now due to this brutal winter. Gonna take advantage of this warm weather while it lasts.
I feel really weird because I prefer the membrane style keyboards, if you find a good one, the keys are still high quality but it takes barely any force to depress the keys and you still have the tactile feedback.
I can type much faster on a chiclet style keyboard than a mechanical because of this.
This style right here.

Never understood the appeal of mechanical keyboards.
My old Logitech Illuminated chiclet keyboard is on its last legs. What would you recommend?
Does faggot apply to bisexuals because I'm bi and I want to know for sure. Google isn't satisfying.

I imagine the people that use that word don't care.
So, I guess so? I'd happily share it.

I'm mainly a pc user and I like the MacBook keyboard
Dammit, just barely missed my chance to pick up my package. Gotta wait 'til tomorrow.
I'm mainly a pc user and I like the MacBook keyboard
I didn't mean exactly the macbook keyboard, it was just a stock photo of the style of keyboard I was referring to.
I love my mechanical keyboard, I can never really get a good picture of it though because of the [sp]HARDCORE LEDS[/sp]
My laptop's keys were chiclet keys, and so was my stock keyboard for this PC, so it took some time to get used to this keyboard, but I really like my Red Cherry switches.

Ah, ducky 9008shine II year of the dragon edition, correct?
I love Ducky boards, and i love mechanical boards in general (except the razer blackwidow).
It's to a point where i absolutely can not stand laptop keyboards. The ones you guys are praising above? Oh god i absolutely loath using them. I'm a heavy and very fast typer and those boards just can't do for me.
I kind of hate mechanical keyboards for gaming.
People sound so xX360noscopeMLGproXx when you can't hear them over their damn keyboards...
Except if you're actually gaming, a mechanical keyboard is almost always actually better. Mostly due to two reasons 1. the point where the key will activate only through half way through actuation and you don't need to bottom the key out (push it down ALL the way) which is actually a lot more useful then you think. And 2: n-key rollover. I'm actually not sure if you can still find or if there ever was a domeswitch keyboard with n-key rollover. But with n-key roll over, every key is independently registered. Because of this you won't receive any ghosting at all. Ghosting being when multiple keys are pressed at once and the keys are 'lost' and never appear on screen. You know those threads in fast threads where you hold down both shift keys and type "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"? That's to test how many keys your board will miss.
N-key roll over though is something most fps gamers won't really notice unless you're THAT fast of a typer and are doing some batshit insane stuff. In fact, i bet most typical gamers don't even really fully utilize or need their mech boards and only bought them because "they're cool"
Also, there's something called push to talk, it's pretty fantastic, any real voip will have it, and it eliminates that problem completely. Or you could actually have them properly set up their microphone so voice activation doesn't pick it up.
There are also different switch types like Brown which only click and don't clack like blues and are much quieter.
I have a blue because i fully enjoy typing and love the feedback, both tactile and sound. Oh man do i love listening to my board when im typing something out.
Also since it's something to do. You read above, hold both shift keys in and type "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"

Mentioned above, those boards are scissor switch boards.

But I do have a good ol rubber dome Gateway PS/2 keyboard I use at home that passes the test flawlessly (I actually have two). This wireless one I just like because I can move around with it.

It's an indication of keyboard quality, basically how all the keys are wired up together.
THKBNFKJSTHLAYDG
wow that's bad

How does that change anything? I can't think of any situation where you'd need to press both shift keys and a letter.

It's a good indicator of the kind of key combinations you can do. If you need to do a combo in a program and you're unable to do it because of your keyboard you're fucked :v:

That probably only happens one a blue moon and for the common keyboard user or fps player it's a non-issue.

I dunno, I've experienced it a lot in some of my games.
I'm guessing no-one else cares though, and I can see why :v:

With push to talk, if someone is talking and moving around in game, tapping WASD, it can basically cause words to be blocked out by KLACK. Some of the mechanical keyboards are so loud that even the sound of someone tapping control a couple of times completely stops them from saying what they are trying to say.

I've grew used to laptop keyboards, silent, works just fine for all the games I play.
I don't give a damn about having a keyboard that can type the whole quick brown fox thing.

I give a damn about a keyboard that feels comfortable and that I know that won't fuck me up when I need to do something important with it.
Whatever, I'm a fucking nerd :V
So far so good, never had a keyboard that fucked me up, be it the cheap 5$ walmart one to the 100$ logitech or my laptops integrated one.
I don't really think much people will get fucked up by their keyboards often. I doubt you do anything super technical that requires the use of a billions touch at the same time either.
THE QUICK BROWN FOX FUCKS THE LAZY DOG TO DEATH AND LOOTS HIS CORPSE FOR THE PELT AND MAKES LEATHER BRACERS WITH THEM
I've been playin' too much Skyrim.
Anyways holy shit SnagAJob is such a great site. It streamlines (I think i'm using this the right way) the application process and stores info for quick reference and wow

I literally refuse to belieive that you aren't exaggerating, i think you just have bad hearing then. All my friends have mechanical keyboards and we all talk on teamspeak, this is not an issue nor has anyone else out of the 6 people find this to be an issue.

You're taking the test too literally. It's really just that you're testing your key rollover by holding in multiple buttons at once. If you can barely type the sentence holding down shift, you have a bad/really cheap board that was wired to be as cheap as possible and if you press 3 keys at once, one of them won't register.
Some boards you may need to hold in 4-5 keys. Most ps/2 boards you'd barely be able to type the sentence.
If you have a fairly large margin of error, like if you had to hold 4-5 keys for ghosting to occur then you're fine really, unless you play an RTS game, then you're fucked.
But like i said in my main post, if you're an fps player you really won't fully utilize NKRO

I wasn't talking specifically about scissor switch though, just those tightly spaced flat square key keyboards, aka chiclet style.

Every 'chiclet style' board is a scissor switch board. Or at least they have been for years
[editline]18th February 2014[/editline]
Do you mean just the keycaps?
Every 'chiclet style' board is a scissor switch board. Or at least they have been for years
Yes, but there are still many styles of scissor switch keyboards with different key spacings and heights, linking the example pic was the easiest way to let people know what I had in mind. Just saying scissor switch is too vague to describe the type of keyboard I like.
