Or even better, you finally make yourseld to go deal with something you were putting aside for as long as possible because you knew it would suck regardless how fluent it would go. Everything that can go wrong, goes wrong.
I hate when people blow off a game and call it a copy just because it has a similar system. Someone tried to tell me banished is a Dwarf Fortress clone just because it had a similar resource system. Jesus.
44 Degrees Celsius today and several cases of heatstroke across town yikes
It is weird stumbling on old forums and friends. I'm a completely different person than I was 7-8 years ago, yet it seems like everyone I knew back then never changed one bit and it's just bizarre to look at.
hello who wants a life update cause i wanna share okay so i might die relatively soon, lemme tell you why: firstly i'm a dumbass, i shouldn't have let my health get as bad as it is now. i have a severely infected tooth that requires a root canal asap. it's actually a bit worse than it sounds, the nerves in my tooth are already dead. actually that's a bit of a double edged sword, the root canal would be significantly less painful than it normally would be, but the infection could quickly spread to my jaw bone and surrounding gums if left untreated. that's not all though, i have around 15 other teeth that need fillings. some requiring caps and crowns. the total cost of treatment would be about $5500, $2500 after insurance coverage. if this gets worse (i.e. infection spreads to jaw and/or more root canals are required), the surgery to REMOVE PART OF MY JAW might be in the tens of thousands. scenario a.) i simply don't pay for the root canal and fillings and let this get worse, infection spreads to my jaw, i die of blood poisoning. scenario b.) i don't pay for the root canal and fillings and let this get worse, infection spreads to my jaw, get emergency partial jaw removal surgery and forever be in debt, become homeless, die of hypothermia next winter. scenario c.) get the root canal and fillings, forever be in debt, become homeless, die of hypothermia next winter. scenario d.) start a donation thing and hope people can raise $2500 so i don't turn into roger ebert????
And this is why healthcare should be free.
Yup. Im in the same situation with my eyes. Im probably going to end up going blind.
Surely that'd fuck you up, but wouldn't kill you?
Surely that'd fuck you up, but wouldn't kill you?
last I heard blood poisoning is pretty deadly yo
Surely that'd fuck you up, but wouldn't kill you?
if it's not fixed before it spreads to my jaw: i'm dead [editline]20th February 2014[/editline] and we wouldn't be able to pay back any sort of loans, let alone be approved for a loan that big.

[editline]f[/editline] I mean, plenty of people in worse situation with insurance seem to get financed for equivalent or worse health problems.
Go to the hospital and complain about massive tooth pains. They cant refuse you if it's an emergency. Like literally go all out, crying in pain and shit. It's the only way. You will end up getting a bill but at least you wont have to pay it up front.
American's healthcare is depressing. We can just go to the NHS and get it all sorted. I get too many of the "I'm sick, how will I pay for it" stories. :C

However, anyone else (84% of the population) is expected to grab insurance and suck up medical bills up to several thousand.

It's in the best interests of dentists / hospitals to get paid rather than not, so many will renegotiate terms if you state your situation clearly. If they don't, both parties lose out hard.
i'll see if i can schedule another appointment then.
Good luck to 'ya, then. I doubt many people get into the healthcare business to screw people over at the cost of not helping them, so if you're clear enough on the fact that you flat-out couldn't afford such a service at that payment period / rate or would go to another office instead I'm sure they'll help you out. Even so, hearing stories like yours are really the reason why I'm going to try my hardest to move to Canada once I get done with my degree, even if it means shitty internet and cold...
Paying to not die is weird.
If they don't, both parties lose out hard.
As in, he dies and the hospital moves on and treats patients that do have money. Capitalism! :D
Paying to not die is weird.
When someone goes on about how bad America is because of military, or security, or racism, or imperialism, I scoff and move on. But I agree about the American Healthcare system. The problem isn't the doctors and surgeons who actively WANT to keep you from dying, it's the asshole on wall street who wants to make a profit off your sad ass, even if it means taking you out of house and home.
Thing is, they want it paid off in 6 months at max. We just can't afford that.
They don't need to know the second part of that
Paying to not die is weird.
In America, being in decent health is somewhat of a commodity.
(to try and lighten the mood here) My friends and I are planning on making a small business over the summer related to lawn care and round-the-home stuff. We wrote out the idea for a commercial "America the beautiful..." *camera pans over American flag* "And so is your lawn, especially if you call Eagle Home and Lawn care. Here for you, here for America" *logo pans* [t]https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/7760_272311659594575_1253335123_n.jpg[/t]
We all pay to live, just some people through their taxes.
Hospital bills are fixed prices while people are taxed according to their salary.

I don't think you have to pay $2500 out the door Hopefully that's all you need because as far as medical bills go thats pretty tame. Still stupid that you have to pay that anyways. The amount extra everyone would pay on their taxes to have true nationalized health care would be many magnitudes smaller in the lifetime of paying for that, than it would to have a SINGLE average injury or medical issue that needs attended to under the current system. And whats even better, is because everything is free at the door you can have as many doctor visits you want which makes it so preventivie medicine is actually a thing and which also puts less strain on the system as you aren't likely to need to go to the doctor as much in the first place.
We all pay to live, just some people through their taxes.
If paying taxes is paying to live, does that mean that it's also paying for assassination 'cause o' the military?
IIRC aren't medical bills billed to you in monthly payments anyways? I don't think you have to pay $2500 out the door
yeah but i don't know how my mom would manage even $50 extra a month when she has trouble keeping the lights on and food in the fridge
