So yeah, I think I might stop smoking and really cut back on drinking. I'm concerned about my looks, don't want that premature aging. I used to smoke about 3 packs a month, even less in the recent half year, but on about 5 weekends throughout that period I smoked a pack each. It's a social thing for me, when I'm really, really comfortable, good conversation and all I like to bring tobacco into the mix.
Recently I just got extremely annoyed with the taste and the smell.
Alcohol is a tough one though. On average, I drink about 2 beers a day. I'm not the party drinker that gets really really drunk on a special time, I just have a beer along with dinner but I noticed other moments when I crave alcohol. I don't get drunk a lot, I just drink it as a beverage but I noticed that I have trouble sleeping without alcohol in some situations. so yeah, I'll cut back on that as well.
My eyes have gotten worse... I have no Peripheral vision in my left eye now... I wish I could afford an eye
Welp, just got back from volunteering at the soup kitchen, so I am feeling pretty helpful tonight. Lo and behold, some sketchy looking guy came up to me asking for some gas money, saying that he was completely out of gas and that no one he knew could help him. I would've given him some, but I just spent all the cash I had in my pocket to fill up my own tank. I started to feel pretty bad for the guy since I found $10 shoved into my glove compartment. The pity I felt for him was quickly razed when I saw the guy hop into his car, rev up his mini-van engine and attempt to do a burn out as he exited the gas station. Then, he sped off as fast as that mini-van could take him.
...something is telling me that he might not have been telling the truth :v:

yeah man, I know how you're feeling right now and I really hope it doesn't get much worse for you. My left eye's been bad since I was a babby. I had surgery on it for other reasons, but over the years but I've never really had peripheral in it and I can barely see when it's just my left eye, and reading with my left eye is out of the question.
I can function on my right eye, thankfully.

very nice. I got used to writing fucking books every week last year for AP US History, which was a brutal class. ~3,500 words a week was mental.
So I had to bring my computer upstairs to work on my dads and I mistakenly opened up a browser window with porn on it.
I was just glad no one saw that and my computer was angled away from the rest of the room.

Flashbacks to sharing a computer with the rest of the family for years and years.
If only I had been more diligent about my browser history cleaning...

That is why Private, Incognito, etc. mode was invented.
So we could "buy gems" without letting our "loved" ones knowing.
Ended up leaving the meeting early because I was raging too hard to function. It's just one fucking guy who plays the dumbest team in Marvel 3.

I just suck at anger management. I can't control it.
I can't search for jobs or for courses because I end up just raging the fuck out.

Just limit yourself to one a day at first, and maybe one case of beer a month.
I limit myself on one cup of coffee a day because I know my sister practically lives on the stuff to the point where when we lived together she'd got through a pot a day. I just don't want to get super "dependant" on that. I already know I'm addicted to the point where I get annoyed if I can't have coffee that day but I'm trying to keep me out of the "physically can't function without it" territory.
Personally started drinking beer more as of late too and trying to cut back on it to where I only buy one or two cases a month and never have more than one a day, if that.
Speaking of which for those who do drink beer here, what are your favorites? I spent the last few months trying different ones but blue moon simply is the best I've had so far. Really didn't care for guiness (it almost tasted watered down from the bottle), Yuengling was alright but nothing great.
I remember the one and only time I got pissed. After that, I basically quit drinking for a year.
I've gone back to drinking now, but I'm tempted to stop again. It's overrated and a total waste of money imo.
I find the drinking culture in Australia to be far too big. I'll get in to work on Monday and most of the people in the office will be talking about how wasted they got on the weekend.
Alcohol doesn't even taste good and it's expensive as hell. May as well spend it on drinks I like. I've got an 18th to go to tonight and I have a feeling I'm going to leave early as since it's an 18th, aparently you have to get wasted.

Awhile back, when i was paranoid about stuff even though i had my own computer, i literally just had two browsers installed. I hated using incognito and that i couldn't just go through history if i wanted something specific so i just had two browsers. Except the second browsers was just obscured and i did everything to all the shortcuts to make it look like internet explorer. No one in my family would touch IE even on the off chance i left my computer unlocked or they guessed the password and wanted to look something up.
Now? now i don't give a fuck. Hell sometimes i just have a tab minimized.
I've never understood the need to "get fucked up."
I've never understood the need to "get fucked up."
there isn't a 'need'. just a 'want'. I like drinking quite a lot because i can enjoy the feeling of it without ending up as a staggering zombie shambling down the road making trying my damndest not to fall over before reaching my door or wrapped around a toilet's base in the fetal position.
Just limit yourself to one a day at first, and maybe one case of beer a month.
2 a day isn't so bad either ways, for males, what's considered "Moderation" is about 3 beers a day or 15 beers a week. Though, as any good things, you can drink less if you're not active that much so you don't get the beer belly and the empty wallet syndrome, otherwise you're perfectly fine.
Speaking of which for those who do drink beer here, what are your favorites?
I tend to go for more expensive brews, being from microbrews instead of macro/more commercial ones. I find those being overly watered down. I personally find my favorites being Unibroue Ephemere line up for the soft, casual sweet beer, albeit heavy. Gift of god and Maudite being really nice for the 8-9% brews then for a Belgian type bubbly mix, I like getting a "Monaie de la carte". I also like whites like the White horse and a Blanche de Chambly, those are really refreshing and go well with most meals, I find.
Once in a while I also like getting a Barley wine, to go with strong tasting food, but that's kinda expensive to do so I try to only do it once in a blue moon, in there, my favorite was the Frapabord @ 11%.
I try to keep myself at a case a month or so, 'cause microbrews are a tiddy bit more expensive, but you pay for quality. Usually runs for 4-16$ a single beer, 10-20$ a case of 6 and 16-30$ a case of 12 beers. I'm pretty reasonable I think.
I also don't drink much in the winter, since a cold one usually is better at warmer weathers rather than freezing ones.

Opinions.
Also, god damnit i really loathe the guy who works nights at the 711 down the street from my place on campus. I almost always get him and he's a complete prick to me everytime. He constantly shafts me on change, always grabs the wrong stuff, often forgets to give me everything i asked, he never talks to you or greets you, he never looks at you and instead through you staring at people in the store because he thinks everyone is shoplifting. I swear he does this intentionally too and he always cards me when i get any tobacco products which, sure that's fine it is their job after all, but this guy knows im over 18 since i go there so heavily. But he always cards me but never actually looks at it, he just waits for me to go through the effort of pulling my wallet out and by the time i have the id itself almost out of my wallet he's already scanned the pack/tin of whatever i'm getting and is waiting for me to give him the money. Never looks at it at all.
I'm about to go there now, how you much you want to bet i get this same guy, and when i ask for what i want i have to make him grab 3 other things before he actually grabs what i want. I'm really specific in describing the packaging too.
Tell him straight up what you think about him. :v:

The dude would probably just kick me out, he's the manager during the night and this is an inner city university 711 populated by drunk students from the bar down the street, high students out for chips, bums asking for money, and local inebriates and crack addicts.
I'm not kidding about any of those. Crack addicts apparently love to steal ice.

It can taste alright, but yeah, I can easily live without it.
The only reason I drink anyway is for socializing, but even then it's not necessary. I dunno, it's just a waste of time and money imo.

The drinking culture is pretty heavy, but the problem is that it's just directed in the entirely wrong direction - The culture being that binge drinking heavily is something that's very masculine and a person who can drink a lot is considered a 'tough cunt'. These people also tend to drink artificial, heavily sweetened alcopops made to be easy to skull down in large numbers just for the sake of getting drunk.
This is also the reason that most bars, even the quaint ones, become obnoxious doof-doof nightclubs after 8pm.
I won't argue the taste thing, alcohol can have a taste that can be unacquirable (tequila and gin for example, are and always will be vile to me)

I remember drinking a few times and had a good time. But they are so few and far between. Most of the time I can't get it down because of the taste.
