Guys I really, really wish I lived next to a Fry's so I could just go over there and get parts. Radioshack barely has anything half the time and Best Buy is a joke. Just hate buying little parts over newegg because unless it ships from their warehouse in California, it becomes pricey. Just want to have fun because it's a hobby and I need to repair a monitor with a (probably) bad cap somewhere. [/QUOTE] I got a Fry's about 10 minutes away from me, literally the other side of this mountain behind my house. Other than that, radio shack should have enough to repair the monitor. I did it once before, but my dumbass brother tried to help with my soldering. He thought it'd be a neat idea to take a knife and strip away the substrate on the circuit board.

Just disappointed when they don't have basic chips like an LM555 or something else common. Oh well not too many people go there for hobby stuff anymore so it makes sense. And I envy you, I'd go into Fry's just to stare at the shiny mobo assortment on the wall (at least the one in Burbank has that)

Isn't he asking what it was like before even the first thread? Pre-Gay Chat V1. Before these threads, we had custom forums for a time. Before that, I don't believe we really had dedicated threads or anything really. FP just over time adopted the idea to use mega-threads instead of sub-forums. Used to be just random, but general topics in GD. Than we eventually made custom forums. Than we reverted back and used mega-threads.

Since I have minor OCD, and since I started reading every post in this thread, now that we're posting fifty bajillion times a day it's killing my spare time to read four pages of posts every day :v: I seriously don't mind though. I feel like the thread is a living thing and you need to feed it with posts so I am happy when it gets to eat more posts. Yes I have an imagination, don't be scared.
