Hardest part about learning to cook is getting ingredients down Sure anyone can follow a reciepie, the problem is cooking your own meals isn't very cost effective if you have to go out to the store and buy literally everything everytime you want to make dinner, and end up with excess food left over you couldn't cook. There's certain things you'll always want to be stocked up on that last a while before going bad, and you'll ideally want to gravitate towards recipes that actually do well for leftovers, especially when they involve ingredients that you need to use up within a day or two (most meats, which actually aren't very cheap to cook with period most of the time. hence the classic "beans and rice" cheapo staple). Its easy for me to spend $40 on a grocery run buying just dinner foods, but for very specific recipes that are all different and as such I only have actual dinners planned out for three days or so. Compared to that, an $8 (rather good) medium pan pizza from dominoes that lasts me two days sounds like a bargain :v: So you just have to buy right and try and only buy stuff that will work with more than one recipe or will last forever.

It's flexible enough to make Italian/Mexican/American style foods, very filling, and pretty cheap. Seriously, I can make a filling pizza for like $6, and it can always be stuffed crust ᵃᶰᵈ ᶜʰᶦᶜᵃᵍᵒ ˢᵗʸᶫᵉ

I think the trick to cooking well is learning to imagine how certain ingredients influence the finished product. I remember cooking an absolutely amazing pasta bake from various things in my pantry, just my imagining how the things i added would taste when it's finished. you can make absolutely amazing meals from very simple bases that way, shit like adding ancient-pantry coconut milk and chilli flakes to you mi-goreng. also, another great, cheap easy meal you can work with is "russian navy pasta": fry onion -> add cooked pasta -> stir in SPAM/canned corned beef of some kind -> add salt/pepper/spices to taste.
Are you on Hyperion? if so: what's your name?
Nah, I'm on Malboro.
Not sure if anyone here is a basketball fan and follows the NBA, but this made me really happy. Just a tip, don't bother reading the comments on the video, its pretty terrible.
