Ordered pizza today because the dining hall closed, delivery driver showed up in a (rather dusty) RX-8. ...isn't that the worst possible car that you could be driving as a delivery driver? It gets 16mpg, rear-wheel-drive on icy michigan roads, and eats oil by design.

It was neat. Also, just for you folks. Much love.
honestly, you just have to keep putting out applications, resumes, etc. until somebody finally gives you a call back :/ search online, go for a walk around local places you might like to work (grocery, foodservice), things like that
Also make sure you show up and let the manager know you are interested, shaking hands, etc. That's how I got my current job when a place was hiring. I was the only one who applied then followed up by coming back in to shake hands and introduce myself to the manager. Of course my retail/food service experience helped for the position too (pizza driver). [editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
Because its cold my door won't close properly, my dog keeps walking into my room when I'm asleep, jumping on my bed and occupying a part of it until I wake up like hours later. This being after she has slept in my sisters room for the night. Maybe she doesn't sleep enough in there or something, I dunno.
My old dog when I lived at my dads before she died would rotate who she slept with every night. Started out sleep in my dads room on his bed. Then would move to my little sister's room to sleep on her bed in the middle of the night. And every morning I'd wake up and she'd be laying at the foot of my bed.
Guy probably had to provide his own car as part of the job.
After maintenance, insurance and gas I'd be surprised if he was actually doing much more than breaking even with that car, though.
What's the best part about working out and burning a shatload of calories? [sp]getting to eat a shatload of calories and not feel bad[/sp] (it's such a bad habit)
After maintenance, insurance and gas I'd be surprised if he was actually doing much more than breaking even with that car, though.
Probably not. Some drivers have no choice. I honestly wouldn't bother getting a delivery job if your car doesn't get at least 25mpg. All of my co-workers don't understand people who deliver at other pizza places with SUV's, especailly since all other pizza places pay under minimum wage since its a tipped position (my place is an anomoly in this). I get around 32-34mpg in my civic and I find it hard to make it worth it after the cost of maintence. Sure I bring home around $1k a month on 20 hours a week after tips/commision/hourly. But I spend around $120 in gas twoards my job alone, and about $100/mo averaged out in maintence. I've gone through two cars since I've started my job too four years ago. The only reason why I still work here is because I love the job/hours, and I still technically make more than minimum wage after car costs even if its not that much more. I can't imagine how people get by at most other pizza places that pay less per delivery, less per hour, and with gas guzzling cars. If I have to put more than $1k/year into my car from maintence alone from my job I start sweating bullets. Granted places like dominoes likely have a much higher volume of delivery than we do, so they probably rely 70% on their tips to make any money there while I would say I rely 50% on tips to make money where I work. Thus delivery drivers at busier, national chains might make more than me from that volume alone. FWI places like dominoes pay their drivers a tipped wage while on delivery (around $5/hr or less) and also generally only give them a commision that is only enough to cover the cost of gas to make an 8 mile round trip. I ran into a delivery driver from dominoes while I was delivering to a hotel and he said that they recently started forcing their drivers to only ever take single deliveries at a time in order to keep labor costs down (as when they are in the store and not on delivery they have to be paid the full min wage). Doing only singles really sucks on gas and its hard to make money that way especially when busy.
