I never studied or did homework, I simply aced all the tests so my grades remained relatively average.
It's because I listened in class. :3
Usually if you just listen in class and occasionally read the book when you're bored, you have the materials to get a perfect score on pretty much every test any school will give you.
homework is dumbassfuq yo
People who brag about how little they studied and still passed is usually a coping mechanism for mediocre grades.
I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never be able to do the things I once dreamed of doing
It's freeing
I'm going to keep chasing ideals until I realise what my real limits are as a person. Then maybe I'll do that "coming to terms" thing afterward, and despair at the fact that there's no way I can make the youth of my generation understand my worldly wisdom.
What do you do nowadays Zeke. Life update.

Confirmed. Many a time I've bragged about the fact I passed Higher English on little to no work while thinking "hah.. I got a C".
It's as if I use it to say "Imagine what I could accomplish if I tried!!", but that just pretentiously undermines the intelligence of a lot of other people by saying "I'm worse than you, but I could be better if I wanted to."
It's that general superiority/inferiority thing that I've got going on, and I feel like I hear about it from other people plenty as well. For some reason on top of that I feel like, when thinking about the 'smart people' in my school, I never wanted to count myself as being one of them because I didn't really feel like I was/should be. I don't know what it is really. Might have just been sheer laziness is why I never studied, and maybe imagining that it's something deeper than that is just another coping mechanism.
Coping mechanisms annoy me, because whenever I think I found an answer about myself I just worry that it's another coping mechanism I'm using to delude myself.

There is a lot more than that to it. Just a bit too much personal to just post on the internet.
A big part of the problem stems from teachers who just don't give a shit about what they're teaching or their students. Anyone can just throw a packet onto the table and say "Use your textbook to help you" while they go and microwave some popcorn.
If you were genuinely interested you would be studying it yourself regardless.
This is only true for high school though, once you've learned the basics of life.

More like "the school teaches you what's on the test."
Whether or not you take anything from it is entirely on you.
Omg gay chat I forgot you existed! :o I just got done reading this school stuff. Stop fighting :(
Oh my goodness I forgot about Medal of Honor Allied Assault.
I'm going to have to play that again, it had the best soundtrack ever

I always felt like school wasn't meant just to teach you things, but rather to teach you things while teaching you how to learn.
My uni course for example; the first year ran through a lot of really basic facts that everybody needed to know before the course got more in depth. People asked "Why are they teaching us this? This is what we did Biology in High School for!" but I reasoned that they went over it because some people on the course might not have a strong Biology background. One of my smartest friends there hadn't done any Biology since she was like 14, but got onto the course with good Physics and Chemistry grades among other qualifications.
When they asked for our qualifications before we got on the course, they weren't asking us what we knew, but asked us what our capacity for learning was, asking us if we had a good science background to prove that we were capable of learning and understanding those kinds of concepts.
So in my mind they're not asking to prove that you know a lot of things, but that you are capable of learning those kinds of things to a certain standard.
EVERYONE SHUT UP AND HAVE THIS FOX

They don't do that in America. There are no requirements for taking a class besides being able to pay for it.

Ah, well maybe that's true. I wouldn't know being from Scotland. I meet people here who say it too though, and so to those my arguments still stands.

edit: wait no, file size is too big. I'll see if I can size it down a bit by cutting frames and changing where the loop ends.
I miss my gif editing days. This is the only computer skill I have (and could be better if I got a new program probably)
[editline]1st December 2013[/editline]
woo there it is, 190kb. No quality lost either really.
Might actually loop a bit more naturally now too, with how the whole body is arched for the jump at beginning and end.

Was just trying to take a picture of my car from the balcony.
Noticed a woman walking to her car next to mine.
I'm in a shirt and underwear taking pictures.
That looks great, I'm sure.

I look so far over in that space.
I sure am glad uni here is free and for the most part goes straight to the point, the idea of paying for college seems backwards as fuck

Don't you have to do some tests to get into certain colleges
I sure am glad uni here is free and for the most part goes straight to the point, the idea of paying for college seems backwards as fuck
Yep, but you get scholarships for sports things! Good thing I'm definitely the best at all sports forever
I ended up going to community college first to try and save some money.
[editline]Rrrrerr[/editline]
You can also get scholarships for being certain races..

There are ACT and SATs, mainly. You can pick one and colleges 'heavily prefer' you take them and get a good score on them in order to get in.
Don't you have to do some tests to get into certain colleges
Usually it's a very standardized test, like the ACT or the SAT. Neither of which are difficult by any means, they often just consist of middle-school level algebra and English questions.
High school is annoying. Grades matter as your marks are the prerequisites of getting accepted. Have a low average like a 60 - something? Nope, good luck getting in if not impossible if the cut off is 70 - something for this university program.
Usually it's a very standardized test, like the ACT or the SAT. Neither of which are difficult by any means, they often just consist of middle-school level algebra and English questions.
Ninja'd! >:3
Anywho, I have no knowledge of the ACTs but the SATs are pretty much completely general knowledge questions. Which is (and this is the proper use of the word) ironic, given how 99% of public high schools teach you what's on THEIR standardised tests and tell you it's important.
I don't get why some people have troubles with the SATs. I went to take them, had to lose 30 minutes of my time because they didn't like my ID so I needed a 'clearer' one (the one I brought had scratches on my picture but you could still tell it's me). I never studied for the tests, stayed up late the night before playing GMod and League, and yet I still got 1870 on my SATs. Which is enough for UF's highest requirement so I'm happy.
I still think the tests are bullshit.
All I know about the educational system over here is I passed maths, science and iMedia then flunked everything else
apparently that puts me in a shitty position :v:
I know I can get 80s but I'm not.
I know exactly how you feel.
When I dropped out I had straight As and was doing great then the wave of anxiety and depression (to name 2 feelings) would come over me and I'd be unable to concentrate and could barely function.
I know exactly how you feel. Doing fantastic, above the curve and then bam the floor drops out from under you for 3 weeks and you have to play catch up while still recovering from it. Really wrecks you when you are doing something substantial like medical or engineerring, and you know it is going to come up a couple of times over the course of a degree.
You need to prep for it.

Is this honestly how you think it works?
If that's all that matters I'd be in fucking Harvard, I've spent enough money on wasted education already :/
Harvard costs an unholy shitload of money.
That's why you don't hear about people from poor families going there.
The US education system really does appear to involve either you/parents being fucking minted or your ability to suck dick to get good grades.
They don't do that in America. There are no requirements for taking a class besides being able to pay for it.
My university (and I'm sure many others) seems to disagree with your ignorant generalization.
