Judging from these posts, living here probably isn't as bad as I thought.

I'd be MUCH happier living somewhere else than in my current situation. My healthcare is gone and probably not coming back, we live on about ~$800 dollars a month because my mom AND dad can't work, I'm still trying to get a GED, which actually costs money to take, so I CAN get a decent job and we won't have to live in squaller at the end of every month, and telling anyone I'm even remotely close to gay in this place would be a death sentence so I can't be myself. It's not a very great place, to be quite frank, but I try and stay positive and hope that one day I can get myself out of this hole.

Although having sane politics would also be nice, I like this country. The people are nice and social regardless of political orientation, things are cheap, there's less racism than Europe or most other places, the scenery is pretty, there's plenty of space and I can own crazy guns and big cars without being judged. It's just a country that's unpleasant to be in if you're unlucky. There are plenty of worse places to live.
