Just never gave you a rest and I swore it never slept; just waited for you to let your guard down. Really. Like as soon as you were settling down it'd lunge at you again. No good to anybody, that cat. Putting my bitterness aside and thinking a bit further back, there are plenty good cats I've met. I'm just overcome by irritation reminded of what an ass that cat was. Probably didn't help that it wasn't mine, so I didn't feel right telling him off or manhandling him, though by the end of the week I didn't think much of just picking him up and dropping him outside the door. But yeah, thinking more broadly, I'm not making a case against all cats. And I'm sure if I ever met a really badly trained dog, like that badly trained cat, then I would think more evenly about the whole thing. Cats are more independent, and smaller, than dogs, so I don't think people bother to train them as much as they might a dog, because they're not so in-your-face. So maybe that's why I've met more badly behaved cats than I have badly behaved dogs, because cats aren't always hanging around, and so people don't think to train them because they're not an apparent problem like a badly behaved dog is. So yeah, cats are cool, but less often to me (and in a different way than dogs).
