Trying out the different take-away places are one of the reasons I want to visit America, oddly enough.
Is that an Aeropress, KorJax? I got one recently, pretty sweet.
Is that an Aeropress, KorJax? I got one recently, pretty sweet.
I actually remember I have one lying around but never got around using it, seeing as I already have a proper coffee machine.
I'm looking forward to trying food in America. I want to try Taco Bell, and this Wendys people say is good.

If you want southern, Cracker Barrel's amazing for breakfast, and Dixie Cafe is good for lunch/dinner.
What kind of Southern is Cracker Barrel supposed to be? In my experience, Southern is where they dump a bunch of crawdads on your table. Or where they serve Cajun gumbo. Or a huge loaded baked potato with smoked fall off the bone ribs and a beer at some restaurant in the middle of a bunch of ranches. If you want actual culture, go somewhere that does that.

Southern food is usually very hearty and filling, like stews, baked starchy foods like potatoes and yam, fried foods, gravies, greens and butter.
Someone broke into my fucking car and took everything of value, as well as trashing everything and spreading trash and cigarette butts everywhere. I'm poorer than you are you inbred piece of fucking crap. Fuck this city.

[editline]29th May 2014[/editline] also if you feel obligated to have fast food while in america, taco bell and whataburger are the two you have to have everything else is nothing
Gib. Though i must admit that coffee looks like it'd give a perky but spiced flavor, i'd gladly try that out but the color of the roast leads me to believe it'd be more spiced than anything. How is it?
Its pretty decent, I think way too light roast for my tastes though. On a coffee forum full of people who know way more about it than I, they were surprised light roasts went that light. Still good though! Not amazingly strong so tastes nice black. So my girlfriend's sister hates me because I stood up to her. Basically, her sister invited my girlfriend's abuser to her graduation, and told my girlfriend to "suck it up". I flipped my shit at her and shouted her down before both me and my girlfriend were picked up. But now that sister is, somehow, convincing her mom that I'm a bad person. Basic things I've done for my girlfriend:
- Be there when she's sad - Be there when she needs help - Assist her in school - Buy her lunch - Take her out to dinner - Get her recommendations to therapists - Help her family with various chores - Give her money for various things - Make sure that she gets home on time - Make sure that she's safe and that everything's okay - Make her smile and laugh
But apparently I'm "mentally abusive" and "a seriously bad influence". Her mom's now trying to split us up. What'd I do.
also if you feel obligated to have fast food while in america, taco bell and whataburger are the two you have to have everything else is nothing
No, no, nooooo. Taco Bell is downright awful half the time and it's made me literally sick on more than one occasion. No, if you want fast food, I'd suggest Five Guys or Chic-fil-a, although I don't go to the latter anymore because the people working there are almost too friendly and its a bit off putting but their food's really good.
But apparently I'm "mentally abusive" and "a seriously bad influence". Her mom's now trying to split us up. What'd I do.
I don't know anything for sure, but it sounds like the mom is fairly innocent in all of this and simply just taking the sister's word for it. Maybe what you need to do is sit down with her mom and just talk about it and convince her otherwise. Although I'm going to say this is probably not the best advice.
Woo! I have a job again. Turns out they tried to call me on the 25th, but the phone wasn't online at the time. Thank fuck they tried again today :v:
None of those serve American food. They serve fast food, pizza, and sandwiches, three things that have regional variants everywhere in the world. It's unlikely that you'd be able to tell the difference between HFCS and sugar when it's an ingredient of anything you've eaten so far. NYC is a world class city where you can find any food that exists anywhere else in America or on the planet. If you can't find food in New York that's your own fault. Go get a hot dog from a street vendor, find a southern food restaurant and get some cole slaw and fried chicken (KFC doesn't count), hell, head north a bit and get some lobster. Oh, look for a well-reviewed hawaiian place as well. There's tons of great American food and you're missing it all despite being in a city where you can try it all.
ok i have 5 more days ill check em out!

I grew up in a Southern family. Pretty sure it's as Southern as black eyed peas and cornbread, fried chicken, or biscuits and gravy. (Also try all of those things if you want Southern, just not at Cracker Barrel, please.)

Gah, you guys are making me hungry. Southern soul food is literally my favorite thing in the whole entire world. Country fried steak with country gravy slathered all over it, gaaaaah :D

Definitely try to have a conversation and keep emotions out of it as much as possible. Be rational and considerate and it will work %90 of the time as long as you don't hit some emotional trigger.
Chic-Fil-A has the worst chicken of any fast food place I've ever been to. It's overcooked, slathered in grease, and tastes like nothing but salt.
Chic-Fil-A has the worst chicken of any fast food place I've ever been to. It's overcooked, slathered in grease, and tastes like nothing but salt.
Chick-Fil-A scares me because the employees are nice in this overexaggerated fake way.
Chick-Fil-A scares me because the employees are nice in this overexaggerated fake way.
They're all hopped up on the jesus
Maybe Chick-Fil-A just sucks where you are. The ones over here are fantastic.
I swore I would never eat there again even before I knew of the whole anti-gay thing. Their food was just utter garbage, at least here.
Oi. Chick-Fil-A has some awesome chicken biscuits. Was my main food staple during my Senior year.
Even my parents hated it. And they love everything anti-gay.
there have been like 14 yellowjackets in my house this past week fuckin airborne hellspawn GO AWAY
there have been like 14 yellowjackets in my house this past week fuckin airborne hellspawn GO AWAY
Hnnng oh god I know that pain
I swore I would never eat there again even before I knew of the whole anti-gay thing. Dakota, except the typical given fast food places like BK, McD, and Taco Bell. We did just get a 5 Guys in town. Too bad its at a really bad intersection downtown and there is fuckall for parking.
Playing WATCH_DOGS. Protip: Do not believe Minimum Requirements bullshit. I have 4 gigs of RAM, an Intel Core i3-2100k (3.10 GHz; 2 cores, 4 threads) and a GTX 650 (2 GB). Game runs at constant 60 on Medium Settings. 6 GBs of RAM my ass.
Driving through the mountains tomorrow to go camping on some islands. I have 2 liters of Scotch and 30 granola bars, so ready.
