He's like the American Gravity Ponds, only with less death threats
considering i still talk to gravity ponds, scooby is worse.
It's a half LARP half... mostly LARP. But not as full on as most LARPs. I dressed up in a tailcoat and stuff and (only because I didn't have a proper white collared shirt) I had a bow tie around my neck and a white t-shirt so me and the guy who tried to dress up as a North Korean both looked like strippers. But no one else dressed up. My younger brother made rules for it and got everyone to play after they watched SUSD play a megagame. Which was a lot more detailed than our game because there were far more players and each country was its own team. But yeah my brother made the rules and acted as the game master and he got a series of cards (science, military and cultural) and you just write on an action card every turn what you want to spend your money on and the game progresses from there. You talk to other countries and formulate plans, figure out what they're doing etc.. I spoke to the US once and came back to the EU and was like "uhm... the US has invented AI..." If you're in the UK like flagdog says you might actually just be able to play the real deal they host a number of events a year, the Megagame people.
American, although I oddly don't have a problem with flagdog saying I'm in the UK.
Driving down to cape cod tomorrow evening and gonna spend about 2 weeks there, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Holy shit, what happened? I hope the cleanup goes well.
Storm decided to fuckulate the yard. The standing pine and cottonwood trees are going too, they're leaning dangerously and have to be removed. *sigh* trees I've seen grow since I was little :c
Just got back from my first 11 hour shift. Holy crap, I'm so done right now. Every single muscle in my body hurts and it's only day one. Why the fuck did I take month and half of this again? Oh yeah, money for new PC. I will have to repeat that to myself very often to survive this. Shit, I gotta man up, I am like whiney 12 years old.
I still realise I need to upgrade my own PC. Most importantly is get a fucking SSD. Probably upgrade the 560 GTX too. It's been like that since 2011 :v:
Hey Teto, what are you dreading about student accommodation? I'm going to be moving into residence in September and I'm sort of the opposite of you in that I can't charge into things blindly, I need to know all about everything first. Even if it's bad things I can deal with it as long as I anticipate them.
It was just that in my first year at university 2 years ago I was unsociable and didn't have the social skills to deal with my flatmates' constant offers of friendship. Being around them made me feel even more inept, so I preferred to be alone. Eventually the self-consciousness wore down my patience until I started acting passive-aggressively towards them. I had this strange thing that I thought I was at least 1 foot shorter than all three of them, but near the end of the year I realised I was at height with or taller than two of them, I wasn't very good at making chitchat or expressing myself, though I think I'll be more capable of it now. What I fear isn't the moldy dishes* or loud music, but just that I'll end up like that again, put with people who I just can't fit with. As time goes on though I learn how to fit with more and more types of people. As long as you feel capable of keeping on friendly terms with people, group accommodation shouldn't be too much of an problem. But I might learn some new horror this year that I never had the chance to experience the first time round. *Moldy dishes weren't too much bother until they started using mine as well. This happened more frequently toward the end of the year, either because they were worn out with their courses, or because my increased unfriendliness wore out their patience and eventually lead to a loss of empathy for my feelings. Since I didn't have much presence in the flat I feel like that made it easier for them to ignore me and worry less about how I felt. That's pretty much human nature though. I feel like I'll have better luck getting them to respect me if I make myself a constant friendly presence in the flat, so they would feel too guilty to steal my dishes. Not to say they were bad people. They didn't even steal my food much, which is what you'd expect. I think because there were only 4 people per flat, you had enough people in a small space that they're aware of one another, and so they consider each other. With flats going up to 12 people who share a kitchen, I think you'd find a great increase in the amount of food theft going on. People are more emotionally separated, and because of the number of people there, people feel like it's easier to get away with, so they're able to calm their worries about stealing people's food. I've chilled out about it now though, since I've convinced myself I'm entirely capable of dealing with the social problems I had with my flatmates before. Just ordered a wii u for my mom's birthday next month.
Jeez, it's both interesting and frightening about hearing my boyfriend talk about how he was drafted and almost stationed for border control..

Check gumtree or something for a 2 person flat for share, the addition of being strangers is a great way to avoid unwanted interaction aside from regular flat related chat. Not so sure about that last one though, since I've only lived in a 2 bedroom with friends I knew previously. [editline]30th June 2014[/editline] I'm home, woop.
