[QUOTE=ultra_bright;45375226]I remember waking up one morning and my room was 40C. Nobody will let me install an A/C in my room even though I offered to pay for the power.
This is why I hate old people.[/QUOTE]
My room is like a fucking oven, just outside my room is like a cool air of forgiveness, peace and tranqulity.
Fuck thermodynamics
My dog vomited all over the place last night presumably cus of the heat.
Ended up cuddling her at 4am while my mum cleaned up the mess.
Poor little bugger.

I'm addicted to CiV 5 again. Damn it! D:
I learnt today why it's a bad idea to say someone is gay or try and get them to tell you before they're ready. Not through personal experience fortunately.

Did he tear the guys face off?
No. He spent ten years of his life having to live a lie because he lied early on about his sexuality and by the time he was comfortable (with his sexuality) the lie was so great his integrity was severely at risk which just perpetuated the problem.
People accusing him of being gay took ten years of being himself away from him.

Heh that came across as harsh. Sorry :v:
Ian Thorpe came out today after more than a decade denying his sexuality and having people try and force him to come out and constantly being accused of being gay. Finally managed to break free. Hooray
[editline]14th July 2014[/editline]
(hardly anyone really knows this because it used to be silly tabloid media stuff plus also very Australian specific)
"Living a lie" sounds a bit strong when being gay isn't even the greatest of genuine qualities in a person, especially a successful swimmer like Ian Thorpe, yeah.

But being comfortable with not being out may be ok for the person, but it's a bad sign for society. Living a lie is a criticism of the people that forced him into that situation, not of his actions.
[editline]14th July 2014[/editline]
If he spent his life not being out and left in a will or something that he was gay but it was no ones business and he didn't tell anyone because it didn't matter to him, then it's not a problem. But if, like in this situation he wants to be out but was forced into lieing...
[editline]14th July 2014[/editline]
Like I said I only thought hard about this stuff today, so I'm still forming my thoughts on the matter. I very well may not be right!

He's a professional swimmer, he spends / spent most of his days and most of the time in his days training to be a swimming machine. Swimming was probably most of his life for the last decade of his successful career, I doubt he had much time to be gay amongst all the other important stuff he was going through even if he announced that he was.
When you're that high-level, every last bit of focus you can will into the sport counts.

But by his own admission he only perpetuated the lie because people accused him to begin with, suggesting he may well have come out before he retired if he hadn't been pestered. It also drove him to depression as well (and killed his comeback), so it did affect him considerably and take away from enjoying his life.
[editline]14th July 2014[/editline]
It weighed him down.
"I am telling the world that I am gay … and I hope this makes it easier for others now, and even if you’ve held it in for years, it feels easier to get it out."
Try to play Planetside 2 with boyfriend, so I log in.
"You must change your password" so when i change my password it says I can't do that for 24 hours, so now i can't log in, and i can't change my password, and I can't open a support ticket because YOU HAVE TO LOG IN for that.
???

Well sure, but it's hardly "living a lie". Being gay wasn't his life, swimming was - even if not coming out weighed him down, he focused his life around swimming and the results are what you see now.
Most people keep at least a secret or two from even the closest people they know, much less the general public. I doubt it's considered "living a lie" or "taking years away from being [themselves]" when their life revolves upon a larger thing - I would personally only say he would be living a lie if he hadn't come out as a swimmer.
Also its not like he hid having murdered and raped 10 kids he hid something that he knew could create unwanted attention and backlash.
All right ok. Living a lie was too strong.
Being his full self or something probably more applicable.
I'm with Fishy here really, you're sort of overselling this 'living a lie' stuff.
theres nothing wrong with being closeted
you should never force someone to come out of the closet
Sitting on the plane waiting to fly home, got that bittersweet down feeling after a great time. It's like regular life feels kinda bad after a few days of amazing from the immediate contrast. I'll make a bloggy post later when I'm home since most of what I did is relevant to this thread.
Get your ass back in Drachen georgie boy, asap.
I shook Don Frye's hand.
I got an autograph from Shinpei Hayashiya on a shirt, for free.
I got a picture with Robert Scott Field.
I went to a 100th Anniversary Concert for Akira Ifukube.
[I][B]Hot damn did I have a great time[/B][/I]

For subculture nerds or con-goer's in general this general feeling is referred to as PCD or "post-con depression" :v: I know you didn't go to a convention or anything that said
Glad you had a good time though.
So I finally made the jump and slept with a guy I really like for the first time.
I can honestly say I enjoy sex with a guy more than a girl. I find it to be more personal and intimate.
Unfortunately, though, I think he has other plans in mind so I probably won't ever see him in my bed again...

In other news, I'll probably be moving to Seattle. I've got tickets purchased to go visit for some job interviews and saying hi to some friends. I'm glad I'll finally be getting out of Florida.

Haha yeah, I know, I wasn't going to say it since I wasn't at a con but it's that exact feeling.
The PCD feeling is balls.
I wish there were more Facepunchers in Utah that I could hook up with and chill for a day.
I hosted a big furry party. :3
About 15-20 people, everyone had a good time and was very well behaved.
Even cleanup was easy. Furries can be surprisingly tame and respectful~

so what's the difference between a furry and a regular party? for some reason i feel there are some huge sexual undertones to this post like "cleanup was easy" cleanup of what? bodily fluids?
I just can't imagine a furry party. Do they wear animal costumes? do they behave like animals? do you listen to renard?

Ever heard of a theme party? Sci fi parties, gaming parties, any time of party you can think of. That one just happened to be targeted at furries.
