No, it actually does just the opposite. Works for some people and not for others though. Very hit and miss.

What is everyone up to?
Strummin' away on my acoustic.
i got rip roaring drunk and ate noodles. Was an okay day all in all. I got like a fuck ton of shit i need to do at work later though which i'm not looking foward to.
Also i'm a bit annoyed because philly just passed a new tax which adds 2 bucks to cigarettes. So i have the choice of either paying a premium price for cheap cigs, a high price for decent ones, or like 12 bucks for good ones. I guess i could quit but that's not happening anytime soon. Just more incentive for me to use my vape pen more often. I can't really complain too much though cause the tax added to cigarettes is going to schools so thats also a positive. However i do work in another county and could just buy there without the tax.
Stop smoking.
I just don´t see the point of doing it + you can save some serious cash + it´s a major turn off kissing an ashtray. Just my 2c.

believe it or not people find smoking attractive. Not to mention i only smoke outdoors and i think i've only ever had one person actually ask me if i smoked because he smelled it on me after coming in from a smoke break at work.
I'm not quitting right now because it's something i legitimately enjoy not just some addiction. I make a day out of going to a smoke shop and trying out a new tobacco. I like the taste of it, nor am i really addicted as i found out. Before i'd boast how i could go a week without smoking no problem and then some and it was this past week and a half that i proved that when i had my cold. I didn't want my smoking to exacerbate the chest infection i had.
my partner stopped smoking because of me. I didn't tell him too. All i said was that i would prefer he brushed his teeth before he kissed me everytime he had a smoke. So he said it would be easier if he just quit. Hes doing well. He smokes like 1-3 times a month and thats only because he has a stressful architecture job.
Each to his own i guess.
It's not that easy as just stopping. Besides, I'm sure he understands the risks, and he's not hurting anyone else with it. He can do what he wants with his body. And it being a 'turn off' is an entirely subjective thing.
i'm more concerned about quitting dipping tobacco however, which was hard to kick but i'm mostly over it and can actually indulge in a tin from time to time without getting back on it. However i'm still cautious as to only do it at home because no one wants to see you spit putrid brown liquid in a jar.
People would dip at my school all the time and carry around water bottles with their dip spit in them. It was fucking disgusting and somehow allowed. They would sit there in class and put their mouth over the bottle opening and let it drizzle out of their lips. It looked like they were taking a mini shit.

yeah i'm very smart about it. I'm aware of the risks completely. I ALWAYS ask permission to smoke with my friends, and if someones not cool with it i won't smoke. If they're iffy about it but permit me, i smoke behind them so the second hand never touches them.
I'm a smoker and even i admit i hate second hand. So i try to be as courteous as i can. Walking down the street and i see a mother with her kid in a stroller? I stop puffing and hold it away from them so the second hand never touches them.

Dip is nasty stuff it really is. I got hooked on it because it was the only thing that could give me a nicotine buzz. With good dental hygiene you dont have to worry about teeth browning and bad breath but it's still very bad and unsightly. So i only do it in the privacy of my own home alone.

i would just outright refuse to kiss my partner after they'd been smoking
that stuff is so icky

Don't come here then, a pack of 20 is about $20
I'd have no qualms kissing someone who smoked, as long as they weren't a chronic smoker who went through packs a day.

Austrailia right? isn't like everything 200-300% more costly there?
games are like 90 bucks there i feel bad for you guys.
3,20 EURs (3,5 dollars or more) per 20 cigarrets its the number here?
I don´t know, but it´s way too cheap.

One of my Aussie friends bought me FC3 and it cost him around $100 dollars.
I still feel bad that I can't really repay him :v:

Everything's at least 10% more because of tax, plus imports, but the government taxes cigarettes like crazy to try and reduce smoking
The price increase for games and stuff are just publishers being assholes

i actually upped my smoking even since getting promoted at my job. I have more freetime at work and when i get super bored i go out and smoke with a friend. A pack lasts me like 4 days now as opposed to a year ago where a pack lasted me like a week and a half. I'm actually trying to cut down on it and have been relatively successful dropping my average 6-7 smokes a day to 4.
Like if i ever met someone and got involved with them and they had an actual problem with my smoking i'd quit. Right now i'm just sort of inbetween everything so if i can find solace in doing something like smoking i'll take it.

"Higher living expense = higher wages = more dosh! Drain em dry!"
Apparently the hardest thing is the habit of getting away outside and just taking that breather.
Its the routine that makes you want to do it.
Chinese, baby. That was what for dinner. (The food, not sex)

Applies to digital items too.
I'm kind of glad Valve got sued by Australia.

Pretty sure that was just for their refund policy. Adobe got pulled into questioning over how their shit was so much more expensive here (It was $200 cheaper to fly to America, buy a copy of Master Suite there then fly back)
[editline]2nd October 2014[/editline]
I think Valve will give you a refund, but you have to explicitly mention the consumer protection laws here. It's still illegal for them to tell you there's no refunds
Most of the price hikes on Steam are because of the publishers, all Valve's stuff is the same, but Call of Duty 4 is $50, compared to $20 in America

Oh, that's right. :v: I got them confused for a second.
In other news, I had a hilarious "gay" experience last night.
I was walking home to my dorm after eating dinner, and I see this pretty cute guy with glasses talking to a girl on the steps. So, as I walk by, I just say "Hey you, you're cute," in a deep, manly tone accompanied by a straight face. In response, he let out an awkward "Thanks, so are you I guess," before I just walked away. Going up the stairs, I can hear his female friend busting a gut.
Skip forward about an hour, and I'm playing Smash in the lobby with friends. Lo and fucking behold, the guy I jokingly hit on walks through the doors and ends up being a resident of my building. My friends looked at me like I was crazy as I practically died laughing.
I don't get it why are you laughing about it are you going on a date with him or what!?!?!

I find smoking attractive in a way, like film noir kinda mysterious like. The smell is also comforting (of ciggarrettes on clothes, which is weird because no one I have ever known well has smoked, but being hugged by someone who has smokey clothes feels safe). I couldn't ever date someone who smoked though because I'd feel like (rationally or irrationally) they would just die of horrible cancer.
But on the same hand, I legitimately enjoy talking to, and having new conversations with a guy I am addicted too who doesn't love me back. He lives a while away so I can easily go a week without being able to text him no problem. I'm still absolutely addicted to him though. I did a few weeks ago when he went overseas. And have done before just on a whim. But what does it help to know I can go a week without him? He's still preventing me from moving on in terms of new relationships. I can almost quantify the "damage" he's doing to me and I still turn a blind eye. I can move on if I want to, I say, but I don't want to, I enjoy our friendship - the friendship proceeds to impact my real life in a negative way.
I mean you know you better than me, but what you described is like what I tell any of the people who start to question me over my relationship - hah I wrote this without thinking, my friendship* - with him. "I enjoy it, he's a nice guy, there is always new things to talk about, I like the taste of him (that's just a joke dw) and nor am I really addicted - I went a whole week without talking to him once!!
Yey i finally got my extremely old (from 2006-ish) controller to work on my PC.
PSP games, here i come.
Bought myself an actual phat PSP about a month ago for around $60. Sooooo worth it mainly for the homebrew.
A bit late on the subject, seeing as I'm stuck in lectures, but I agree with the anti-smoking part. Kissing an ashtray is not very pleasant. But yes, everyone for themselves. But it's quite annoying how people here tend to smoke when I or someone else is forced to inhale it. Be it just outside the entrance to where I have to go, someone walking infront of me, or plain standing at a busy busstop. It's a bit rude. On a more pleasant subject, relating to cooking, I can cook up a mean cheese-filled beef steak. It's delicious as all hell but too nice to eat more often.
