"Top secret clearance" what
how long have you been in the military lol
[QUOTE=ROFLBURGER;46140718]"Top secret clearance" what

A year, I don't know how service length and clearance level are related??
Roflburger's posts remind me of that scene in The Simpsons where Kent Brockman refers to the Army as 'The Killbot Factory'.
Is there like certain levels of top secret? I assumed there was only one level of top secret.
I'm just asking you don't have to be rude about it.

afiak there's confidental, secret, and top secret. Most infantry have secret because you need secret clearance to deploy.

I don't see it. I never said any dumb opinions on the military.
I was just thinking that Top secret refers to everything and anything the US Military did, guess not.

Well uh isn't all reasons to die dumb?
I'm not specifically targeting the US Military on this one. Unfortunately all countries need recruits for their armies.
So um guys. There's a really cute guy I like that I've been seeing around lately (he's a photographer for the school so he's at a lot of events I cover for the newspaper). I was able to confirm through Facebook stalking that he's bi.
what do I do now? I haven't actually talked to him yet, but he'll probably be at an event I'm covering tomorrow. i dont know how to proceed... i've never done any of this before :(
Today's been fun. Sisters new laptop came but she didn't want Windows 8.
So we dicked around figuring out how to downgrade it to Windows 7 which we eventually did - then lost all the drivers. The best part is we loaded the downloaded drivers onto a USB stick, only to realise that the USB driver wasn't there either. Thankfully my mum had rewritable discs laying around and we managed to get the USB one on through there and then it was all plain sailing.
We've got it working now though, only downside is it doesn't have wireless it seems, but I feel super cool for having managed to successfully downgrade and make it work.
We're grabbing an adapter for it tomorrow, my sisters gonna love it given her present one is atrocious.
now to see how long it takes for someone to be like "Lol thats nothing" and blow me high out of the water with magical hardware stuff :v:

I am in a similar situation with a guy I see all the time in uni lectures. I don't know how to actually ask without any prior conversation.

People act like Windows 8 is the hardest thing in the world to use.
[editline]3rd October 2014[/editline]
I've had one of my old flatmates and my mom freak out because their new laptop has "something wrong with it" because they're not used to how Windows 8 looks.
"How do I make it normal???" "Where's the start button" "I'm too fucking stupid to learn how to use an OS designed to be simple and idiot proof".
When my mom got a laptop with Windows 8 and started freaking out because "this isn't what I wanted" (she was even watching the guy in the store demo it with windows 9 before buying it) I pressed the win key and started typing "update" in quicksearch to bring up Windows update to get it to 8.1 but she freaked out saying "WHAT ARE YOU LOGGING INTO? I SAW YOU LOGGING IN".
[QUOTE=Roll_Program;46140977]People act like Windows 8 is the hardest thing in the world to use.[/QUOTE]
My sister didn't want it and didn't like it. I wasn't going to go "no fuck you use windows 8".
It feels like it's more designed to be a phone or a tablet than a PC, puts me straight off it.
Makes Windows 7 my favourite.

Except it is when you've used the windows operating system all your life and it's become instinct to press the start button and expect certain features.
Idk why you're getting passive aggressive over this.

Because it's the consumer's choice which OS they use.
If you can't deal with Windows 8 then buy something with a different OS, lol.
The step up from 7 to 8 isn't even that bad, even before 8.1. The start menu is just replaced by a bunch of tiles, quick search is still there too. If this is too difficult to use then you lack common sense.

Doesn't entirely help that most pcs (that I can find) on the market are running Windows 8.
Not a lot of choice other than "take this or fuck off"

I didn't have a choice in the matter most people buy pre-builts a lot

Saying hi is probably a good start

worked in an electronics store. We didn't have PCs not running windows 8. that was 2 years ago.
I never dealt with windows 8 before so I didn't know it would be slightly difficult to get familiar with because I listen to the complaints because I never tried it myself.
[QUOTE=ROFLBURGER;46141037]I didn't have a choice in the matter most people buy pre-builts a lot[/QUOTE]
Then don't buy a pre-built with Windows 8?
If you can't deal with Windows 8 then try Linux or Mac, or even tablets running Android or iOS for even more idiot proofing.
[editline]3rd October 2014[/editline]
Maybe they shouldn't be using computers yet if using Windows 8 is too difficult.
Rolling with the burns is today the slogan.

Read my post above yours. I didn't know it would be difficult to use at first because I never tried it.
I don't know why you're implying people who don't like windows 8 are idiots. I've only had my new PC for a week and I spent 10-15 minutes in total using the interface.
Also that edit though lol
It's like saying "maybe people should stop using calculators if they're annoyed that their sin and cos buttons are somewhere else!"
It's like buying a car then test driving it after you buy it, lol.

I'm not implying it, I use 7 because I didn't like 8 as much, but I could still use it fine if I didn't have a choice or I had drivers that relied on 8 to run so I couldn't downgrade.
I am by no means tech illiterate but Windows 8 is my least favorite OS. I can navigate it fine but I don't like -how- I have to navigate it, it feels very unnatural and uncomfortable for me. If I had a windows 7 OS disk I would install that instead.
Roflburger, I wasn't hating on Windows 8, I was pissed at the people I've had to deal with who buy things without trying them and get mad at me because for some reason it's my fault I can't "fix" it.
[editline]3rd October 2014[/editline]
ok?

I don't see how you're not implying it when you say things like "Maybe they shouldn't be using computers yet if using Windows 8 is too difficult."
And not all stores have place where you can test operating systems. There's usually a few consoles or a lot of phones you can test out.

Your argument really seemed like you were bashing people for not liking windows 8. You've only brought up that car analogy after you went on some sort of rant that people are idiots for trying out windows 8, which it made it seem like an entirely different argument.
[editline]3rd October 2014[/editline]
For the record I like windows 8 so far but I need to look into the start menu before I make an actual judgement.

This analogy supports what I'm saying.
[QUOTE=Roll_Program;46141224]This analogy supports what I'm saying.[/QUOTE]
Well I don't think that's a very good argument.
Well yeah people are going to be annoyed when functions they use change. Just because they're annoyed doesn't mean that they're too dumb for technology.
I think everyone will like Windows 10 because the biggest annoyance I had with w8 is that the apps were forced in full screen. Now they can be windowed and minimized.
People will still get angry wondering why their new laptop isn't running XP.
