I say, space ships, Mars. It's just insane to think about that many people.
Hey guys, remember back in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s when very distinguished scientific groups said again and again that the world will collapse due to overpopulation within 10 years? Or that we must convert back to monastic lifestyles and enact harsh cuts on reproduction in order for society to possibly survive?

I do remember them saying that in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 though.

What is "monastic"?
300 = 1 minute 3000 = 10 minutes 18 000 = 1 hour 432 000 = 1 day 3 024 000 = 1 week 12 096 000 = 1 month 145 152 000 = 1 year
Except not, because our population doesn't grow on a linear scale. Hell, if it did, then there would probably be more dead people than there is alive on this rock.
What is "monastic"?
Like living in a monastery. Have a small cell, eat very simple foods (and not a lot of it), most swear chastity (this time for overpopulation reasons.)
Like living in a monastery. Have a small cell, eat very simple foods (and not a lot of it), most swear chastity (this time for overpopulation reasons.)
Oh. Ouch.
Yes we do. Famine in third world nations are largely artificial in nature. Europe and the United States have actually started using LESS farmland, yet we've produced more food then we've ever produced before.
USA and europe are using less farmland becuase they're importing more food, farming on sites in which deforistation has occured. This increase in people means we need more resources, more gas, more electricity etc, which means we'll be driving our planet down the drain trying to produce these extra resources. Global warming and climate change due to fossil fuels etc.
While they were having sex with everyone and everything :v:
Fuck, Isaac Asimov of all people envisioned a world where every square inch of land was used for farming, and even then it wasn't enough to support a "massive" population which lived in vast arcologies. What was the massive population? 6 billion people.
There is 6,697,254,041 people on this planet at this very moment of posting according to Google.
Correction: 6,832,677,100 :pseudo: [editline]04:53PM[/editline] And it keeps going up :ohdear: 6,832,677,200 now..
What if they became Zombies :(
Then we'd all be fucked.
If I could convert the total amount of humans that have been on this planet, I could damn well work out the amount of generations we've been through. But I can't, because it won't let me go any higher than to the power of 36. ): Either way, if you wanna put this in a fallacy ridden model, then you'll have something like: log(145152000)/log(2) = 27, which would be be the amount of generations since then. Now calculating the amount of time it takes to create a new generation, which (estimating) would be roughly around 40 years in our modern world, then you should get something close to what you're after. Disclaimer: This model I have created is so shit that if you take it seriously, punch yourself. Simply because this is ignoring the fact that there is more than one human on this planet, and if it didn't well, my calculator can't go that high so I can't do it.
What does this nonsense have to do with anything :v:
The amount of people that would be on this planet in the given amount of years. It is not nonsense, just a poorly thought out mathematical model demonstrating population growth.
Then we'd all be fucked.
What about Chicago Ted?
Facepunch feels like an older, smarter, cooler brother to me. Who also tells me to hush, it's just a game, all the big kids touch each other like this.
www.worldometers.info Has a lot of shit about stuff, it uses algorithms and all that to average, so it's only an estimate. For the main population growth, it still goes up pretty fucking fast.
Except not, because our population doesn't grow on a linear scale. Hell, if it did, then there would probably be more dead people than there is alive on this rock.
I think you've completely missed the point of what statestics are for.
We have plenty of room for people to live Africa, Russia, Australia, Central US, and even Antarctica.
We have plenty of room for people to live Africa, Russia, Australia, Central US, and even Antarctica.
Perhaps someday, in space.

:siren: WARNING: MISANTHROPY AHEAD :siren: Well, the planet itself can support and extremely high population and still be viable, the Population cannot support itself already. As long as a single link is weak, the entire chain will fail. Famine, war and the seeming inability to commit even the smallest altruism is a testament to our own demise. Eventually, war will consume the world and destroy everything in it's path, and humanity will be the first ones to go. The solution, curb population growth or not be human. As seeing both are nearly impossible, let's just sit back and see how it unfolds. Or better yet, ignore this half-assed argument from a misanthrope and continue on.

We are perhaps one of the greatest species / the greatest species known yet. Have you not noticed how large scale war is declining? Hell, war has ADVANCED us. War brought us the internet, and soon lasers will be more prevalent. Through advancement in technology we shall prevail all obstacles.

But the seemingly inability to work as a whole is what's going to be our end, and our apparent greatness is what may be our ends; Omnipotence does come with it's drawbacks. EDIT: Yes technology may get us through tough times, but will it help us end man's inhumanity to man (and animals). Off Topic: Yes, I am a very pessimistic individual, but I do lighten up when I see through the visage that is my misanthropy. Let alone awesome technological achievements are awesome.

The only difference between us and any other living being on our planet is the size of our brains, the only reason we are "better" or think we are, is because we got big ass heads.
