Has anybody here ever been to a Lambert's Cafe? We have one down South from here in Sikeston, MO.
There are always buses parked in the parking lot that is nearly always filled to capacity with cars. You have to wait a long time, but the wait is worth it. You get rolls thrown at you, so you have to have a good catch and it gives some really big meals.

That is during one of the less active days.
I'll be going there with my family today for my birthday.

when I was in the US, there was this little breakfast bar on Marathon, Florida Keys, called the Stuffed Pig. Without a doubt, the best breakfast I have ever had. Not only was it delicious, it was huge and only cost 5 or 6 dollars.
Judie's is one that I can recommend.

It is from my town, and all of the food is really excellent.

The Big Texan. Home of the free (if you can down it, and the rest of the meal in an hour) 72 oz. steak.

Travel Channel has a lot of shows about places like this. You'll probably see a lot of references to them. Actually as of right now, all three restaurants in this thread have been on the Travel Channel at least once.
I went there because we were on a road trip, and I recognized it from T.V. it was really cool, and we saw someone eat the whole meal.
White castle ftw!

Gullah is a type of food in coastal South Carolina and Georgia. If you go through South Carolina, Charleston has multiple Gullah restaurants, one of which I recall being on the Travel Channel. I'll edit this post later with them when I have time to look some up.

There's a place near me called Cafe Nicholas, and they used to have the best fries and pizza I've ever tasted, but they changed their recipe last year :smith:
If you end up in Socal, make sure you try a california burrito. They're the shit and I can never find them anywhere but here.
Stopped by a place called Bush's chicken, Ordered #7 and a gallon of sweet tea. $21 well spent.

Great tender pieces. Even batter, lots of meat. The place felt old fashioned
Hell yes, I live only a couple miles from one.
Best fried chicken ever.
Five Guys Burgers
They sell burgers and dogs.
Everything is made fresh, they tell you where they got the potatoes for the fries from
The fries they pile on.
Even the veggies are the freshest (best tomatoes I've ever tasted)
And, massive burgers.

Ah hell, I love Bush's Chicken! And when you're right, you're right. That Sweet Tea is to die for.
Give Keith's Hamburger Station a try if you're ever in the ass end of West Texas, great Chicken, Burgers, and that stuff your grandpa brought home to eat that one time you had to stay over because you forgot your key and your dad wouldn't be home to unlock the door until at least 7:00 and nobody wants to wait outside.

Rosati's Pizza in the Chicago area

My father is good friends with the owner of the one in Carol Stream, I remember getting a few free pizzas as a result. Those were some enjoyable summer afternoons. But I don't think he's in touch with the owner as much anymore, but 5 bucks for a slice of pizza that big was a pretty sweet deal (bottled soda included).
Remember.
When choosing between Genos and Pats, choose neither.
Will you be documenting your journey OP? Taking pictures of the food and maybe summaries and reviews etc.

What'd you get?
[editline]12th February 2011[/editline]
What city, for the matter as well
Cheyenne Crossing near Deadwood, SD.
Amazing food, and i was there during the massive hailstorm in August '10, the power went out 3 or 4 times but they still kept cooking
Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They have amazing burgers (and were on Man Vs. Food!).

If we do manage to pull this off, we'll most likely be filming the entire trip.
When are you even going on this cross-country tour, summer? v:v:v
When are you even going on this cross-country tour, summer? v:v:v
Nah, not this summer. Probably not for a few years. There has to be quite a bit of planning put into it.

Hopefully none of the small local eateries that you intend on visiting don't go under before then, that'd be quite the wrench thrown into your planning.
Well, like I said, we're not going only for the food. But tourist attractions and local hotspots are easier to find via travel sites.
Wait, who is driving?
