Bleed is awesome, loving this band.
Well, more of a personal taste thing for it. But it was less technical compared to their earlier work, and even Obzen. It was still good, but it was lacking something that they had with earlier albums.
It lacked Thomas Haake on drums. They used samples on the whole album. The songs are much better live.
I see
It lacked Thomas Haake on drums. They used samples on the whole album. The songs are much better live.
Yeah, that was it. They used the 'drumkit from hell' or something like that, though Haake programed all the hits if I remember right.
obZen is my faorite song off their new album. It's got a nice beat to it.

Meshuggah is awesome...Tomas' beats are awesome....they held a contest on youtube for the drummer who could replicate "Bleed" the best
Cool idea, fail songwriting. Every song is the absolute same chugga chugga shit, it's so forgettable. Want good technical metal? Suffocation.
Just started listening to this band and they are fucking awesome. So this deserves a bump.
Dewp bumping this thread brought them to my attention. While I like the instrumentation, the fact they use hardcore shouts turn me off. I absolutely hate hardcore-esque shouting. This explains my dislike of virtually all metalcore bands, as well. So, unfortunately, these guys aren't going on my favorite bands list. Do love the instrumentation and the odd time signatures, however. :D
They were really good live. But they mostly played newer stuff which was kind of disappointing.
The video for New Millennium Cyanide Christ is gold Great band though
Like them, though I only have 2 albums. Or, in fact I have 3, but by mistake I got 2 obZen, so it doesn't really count. D:
Fuck yes, these guys have some of the most technical breakdowns I've ever heard.
i severely dislike this band and frankly i don't care if it's "math metal" it sounds awful

Anyone like Chaosphere? It's a wall of mind-fucking sound and it's fantastic
did you guys know that Meshuggah means Crazy in hebrew? (משוגע)
I don't like what I hear.
The strange time signatures really turn me off. And I've never been a fan of how they strum two chords throughout most of the song. I prefer my metal with more normal time signatures and less repetitive riffs. I don't like the way the singer yells either, I much prefer a more traditional scream or growl.
Ahhh good old Meshuggah. If you want to listen to some bands influenced by it try Tesseract, SikTh, Architects, Textures, to name a few. Djents all the way, odd timing, polyrhythms, everything.

They also include some clean vocals, not much but it fits well. Fellsilent also does that, forgot to mention it.
The strange time signatures really turn me off. Catch Thirty-three is mindblowing. On mind's Mirrors, Haake sounds like Soundwave  (the Transformer) and the build up to In Death - Is Life is eargasmic. I'm still addicted to Combustion though.
They look so swedish. Music is good though.
How is Meshuggah pronounced? I thought it was meh-shug-ah but my friend says it mesha-gah (the main difference is that he says the "meshug" faster)
I'm wondering the same thing. I say Meh-shug-ah, friend says Mesh-uggah.
I say Mesh-oo-gah
I like obZen. That song kicks ass.
How is Meshuggah pronounced? I thought it was meh-shug-ah but my friend says it mesha-gah (the main difference is that he says the "meshug" faster)
I've always pronounced it 'Meh-sug-ah', I say it quickly so the h isn't as pronounced, it's more of an emphasis on the u. The correct prononciation for the Yiddish word meshuga is 'mə-ˈshu̇-gə' so I would assume that's the correct way, and I'm doing it wrong :v:
