Infected are still zombies. The whole point of zombie films is they're former humans who no longer act human and attack other people. Anything that fits that description is a zombie film.
Besides, I actually prefer the infected zombie explanation because it actually attempts to make sense.
Zombie by definition is something that has raised from the dead. Now I love zombie and infection movies alike, but infection movies should be considered a sub-genre to zombie movies.
Shaun of the dead.

The backstory doesn't matter, that's all technical mumbo-jumbo, the point is the structure and themes of the film, and both living dead zombies and infected zombies share the same structure and themes.

night of the living dead original + remake
dawn of the dead original + remake
day of the dead original
land of the dead
shaun of the dead
28 days later + 28 weeks later

So do Zombies and Mummies, but mummies aren't classified under zombies.
left 4 dead 2
There's some film called 48 Weeks Later, nothing to do with the 28 series, but it's really great. Basically opposing LA gangs + Zombies.
Zombieland is pretty fun.
28 Weeks Later. I actually liked that one more than Days Later.
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Fucking cannot wait for 28 Months :)
It's very interesting. I highly recommend it.
Resident Evil (just the first)

Zombieland was alright too
So do Zombies and Mummies, but mummies aren't classified under zombies.
Mummy movies don't have similar themes to zombie movies.
Shaun of the Dead
Dawn Of The Dead (2004)
Dead Snow
Zombieland is the only good zombie movie I've seen, so far.

There will not be a 28 months later, because 28 weeks was a total flop.
Watched the first episode. Fighting zombies with scissors :byodood:
[SP]spoiler tags please, i woulde've rather not known that right before i watched it.[/sp]:colbert:
The dawn of the dead remake is prolly my favourite.
Although I have no idea of what romeo is doing now, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the dead are both utter shit.
Shuan of the dead.
Definitely Zombie Nightmare with the MST3K commentary running.
I had a dream that I was in the zombie apocalypse on the 4th of July.
[SP]spoiler tags please, i woulde've rather not known that right before i watched it.[/sp]:colbert:
Shit, sorry. :ohdear:
Twilight. Best zombedy ever.
Get it? 'Cause the characters have no brains and the movie itself is laughable?
Dead Alive is the only zombie movie that I'd watch more than once.
Shaun of the Dead is alright but it doesn't touch Dead Alive.
Both 28 movies and Zombieland.
28 Weeks Later. I actually liked that one more than Days Later.
Same here, Although I think I liked it better because Rose Byrne was in it.
Oh, and Robert Carlyle.
