Incredible.
In case you didn't understand, he was implying that the universe itself is almost like a God in itself. He's most definitely an atheist, but an exceptionally smart one.
Yeah, there's deferentially a wide array of people who fit into atheism. This sounds like one mans journey to enlightenment. I feel sorry for people who don't understand what this video is about, and even sorrier for people who have never felt the same feelings as the man in this video. It is a truly fulfilling experiance.
I'm confused. Was he leaning toward Theism or Atheism? The way he went on mixed me up.
I think that's the point of the video. It's a combination of the two, the best of the two. You'd have to be very ignorant to argue that Religion provides(ed), things vital for the human race.
I wanna get out of this city and go to the quiet country side just so I can look up into the sky without light pollution.
I shed a tear when rocket took off.
I got really into it until 5 minutes in. The reason why I like Carl Sagan is because he goes "religion is unfalsifiable, and it is better to turn to science instead because" while this guy goes "religion is evil you are ignorant if you believe in a god". Talking about the grandness of space doesn't really fit well with petty name-calling and well, a negative message like this. I'm atheist but this is just the wrong way to go at things.

This one is even more awesome actually ... just because of the last phrase.

Hmm, so [sp]the change happened so gradually that by the time a new species emerged, they forgot what the previous one looked like?[/sp] Doesn't prove much of a point of any kind but it's a funny story.

Trying to make the point that you can't show the amount of evidence of evolution in the way that creationists demand.
That was so insipiring, i just wish one day i could lift off the planet and go truly see what's out there the only thing that does scare me is the fact i won't be around to see such wondrous advancements that will enable us to see the stars even closer. i..........i actually have tears from watching this video. the interesting thing is he talk's about religion without overly bashing it and actually complaining about it where its needed, people who refuse to listen to what he say's about it are extremely ignorant.
That was an utterly awesome speech.
I don't think there is a way of describing how genious, entertaining and just awesome these two videos are, in a small post like this. Thanks a lot for sharing OP.
That was utter incredible.
Why is Atheism turning into a cult? It's looking the same as religion and also why does he only point out the bad things about religion and another thing why do Atheist always treat Science as something by them? Science has nothing to do with Atheism and there are a lot of bad things about Atheism Including being antisocial and when he goes on about religion scaring children about going to hell, what about Atheist telling children if they get hit by a car that's the end? To put it simply, There's to sides to everything and you have to except that religion is here since whether you like it or not it got us here and the more you fight against it the more you fight against yourself.

I've always wondered, when you look up at the sky and see the Mily Way, which part of the milky way is it that you're looking at? One of the arms? Or is it the middle?
I've always wondered, when you look up at the sky and see the Mily Way, which part of the milky way is it that you're looking at? One of the arms? If you look towards the galactic centre, you're looking through most of the galaxy so it's easy to see on a dark, clear night. If you look in the opposite direction, away from the core, the matter is much less dense and there's much less of it. I don't even think you'd be able to see any discernible disc with the naked eye.
what about Atheist telling children if they get hit by a car that's the end?
So the best thing about religion you can think of, is that it tells kids not to look both ways when crossing the street? To put it simply, There's to sides to everything (a right one, and a wrong one) and you have to except that whether you like it or not religion is a collection of man made stories and the more you fight against that fact the more you make a fool of yourself.
I gave you a box Canary. Watch the video again to eventually understand it. Also,
To put it simply, There's to sides to everything (a right one, and a wrong one) and you have to except that whether you like it or not religion is a collection of man made stories and the more you fight against that fact the more you make a fool of yourself.
this.

I choose to believe that god sticks me to the earth with the glue of love. The truth may not always be fun but it's always the truth. [editline]5th November 2010[/editline] Heh, the glue of love

I would love it if this guy made some good audio books. His voice his simply amazing when it comes to reading. The second one was just purely amazing an actually entertaining.
By the way, what about the third wish in the second video? :3
An amazing and inspiring monologue.

Quite a lot of Facepunch don't know that gravity is still just a theory but science hasn't found out why a large force is so weak compared to something like a magnet, one theory of gravity is that it cascades from other dimensions, inspired by the string theory. Damn, looks like we fed the troll...
Damn, looks like we fed the troll...
To much for your brain to handle I see.
As a pre-med student and an amateur astronomer, I'm quite familiar with the laws of nature and the magnificent discoveries described in the video. The difficult thing is, however, that no matter how beautiful and fabulous the Universe is, it is indifferent to you and me. It's indifferent to your suffering, to your joy. I find the Universe an astonishing place, but I know it's a love I won't feel in return. Life can only have a meaning of restricted value when its purpose is viewed as being itself. That's when religion comes in; but make no mistake, religion as practiced by most of the self-proclaimed Christians, is lunacy at best.
