Absolutely beautiful.
Looks beautiful, creepy, and beautifully creepy. As someone whose never played System Shock or System Shock 2, I am very much looking forward to this.
Go play SS2. I don't think it's going to get remade, at least not til after System Shock 3. But that doesn't matter, because it still plays great, and if you feel the need there's the Shock Texture Upgrade Project and Rebirth which bring its graphics to post-UT99 standards
If this remake does well, I can totally see them doing System Shock 2 up after 3 releases, or is nearly finished.

Anyone remotely skilled at FPS can breeze through the combat so long as they've been collecting all the ammo and using the right type for the right targets, because most of them react too slowly, even on insane
I'll be thrilled and TERRIFIED if this is a success and they decide to remake SS2... and I'm not even part of the crowd that played it back at its release. I only played it a year or so ago, and there are still parts that unnerve me, between the visuals and the music at points. Never let it be said that outdated, harsh, polygonal graphics can't be set to an unsettling-as-fuck mood. I can only wonder at how they'd update "Body of The Many," like the bit with the grinding teeth. Shit was disturbing enough back then...
I dunno, Personally I really like alot of depth and complexity but I dont like it when it comes down to overcomplicating everything on your screen, which usually that's down to UI. I'm sure they'll keep alot of the features from it in the game, but it will probably just be more easily accessible. I would like it if it all works out the way Cows Rule described.
The only qualm I really have with SS is that the UI is frankly a clusterfuck. There's a minimal amount of information the game tries to display to you and it's way too much. I don't need to see my inventory, I don't need all my implants shown to me, I don't need any of it. I need my health/power, minimap, and maybe ammo count. I would love for many of the screens to be toggleable, and if they adopted SS2's menu system that'd be perfect. As for an SS2 remake, it'd be neat but I'm not sure how necessary it is, not to say it doesn't look dated. I've only played SS2 in the last few years and despite its age, it definitely gets me anxious, even knowing what's happening.
The main reason SS2 needs a remake is to unfuck the last third of the game.
-fuck fuck you said ss2-
The main reason SS2 needs a remake is to unfuck the last third of the game.
As much as I love it, yeah, the Rickenbacker and beyond didn't play to the game's strengths.
isnt fuckhead max on the dev team for the remake?
you mean the amazing epic rush to the bridge via the coolest level in the game when the station is about to self-destruct and the most badass song song in the game plays
that's the first game, he meant the second one [editline]15th March 2016[/editline] damn, you edited your post :v:
I can't believe this is happening; System Shock is one of my favourite games. I am so happy that we're getting so much System Shock content; first the enhanced edition, then System Shock 3 gets announced and now this? :excited: I'm sorry for my immature post; I can't contain my excitement. I'm just overwhelmed by excitement and happiness.
yeah his sjw agenda is gonna leak into the models
Considering it's him alright, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise.
I dont see how MaxOfS2D working as an animator is a problem? His animations are fine, I seriously doubt his political views will translate into them. :v:
I dont see how MaxOfS2D working as an animator is a problem? His animations are fine, I seriously doubt his political views will translate into them. :v:
True. Technical prowess in the field of making pixels move isn't really affected by political views, unless you're doing CGI work for the Republicans or something silly. At any rate, one should probably judge an artist by their accolades and talent, not by their leanings. Back problems don't equate to poor animation quality, those two things are completely separate.
I just hope they keep the gameplay somewhat similar. System Shock 1 is, as far as I'm concerned, the best survival horror game of all time because the horror is in the gameplay mechanics. [editline]15th March 2016[/editline] wait shit i didn't mean it like that
I was so worried they were gonna fuck this up, but im not even worried anymore. Thank FUCK they kept the level design, at first I disliked it, but after getting through a chunk of SS1 I fell in love. Its a dungeon crawler+metroid at the end of the day.
yeah his sjw agenda is gonna leak into the models
I never said anything about that but just put words in my mouth thanks. He's still a fuckhead regardless of his agenda.
Well, I personally don't care about a developer(s) political views or any other views for that matter, as long as they provide me with a good game. It's their right to have those views, as long as they're not harming anyone and as long as they don't include these views in the game, even though I don't agree with them. But I see the point here; people often try to include things to support their views; I guess it's just what us humans do; we're insignificant and inefficient insects. :( Let's just this human doesn't include their views.
There's that 'pre-alpha' buzzword again.
There's that 'pre-alpha' buzzword again.
why is it a buzzword?
There's that 'pre-alpha' buzzword again.
What do you mean? The claim seems to hold weight, I dont get why you are saying this.
why is it a buzzword?
Well in this case its not, but plenty of game companies, even AAA, are like "TRY OUR ALPHA/BETA!" literally a month before launch. Or you get "sold" an Alpha which is clearly not an alpha, or beta. The words have lost a lot of meaning and really are buzzwords.
Doesnt really apply here though, this is quite literally a pre-alpha they're showing off.

Lol why is SHODAN in physical form, and as a giant mime mask at that How do you fuck up that badly
You know, I was just thinking about picking up the SS1 Enhanced Edition on Steam, recently. Maybe I should wait it out.
You know, I was just thinking about picking up the SS1 Enhanced Edition on Steam, recently. Classic SS is a perfectly good play, and unless your completely strapped for money isn't horribly expensive.
