The reason for the response is because she started hitting him, not because of genders. In addition, the entire deal took place in the public, where she didn't give any shits about the bother the people in the area would have to suffer. Cue people getting mad at her.

And for the woman getting confronted by the two guys; though the whole thing about her two boyfriends teaming up on the confrontation was pretty good, the whole "recording-and publishing-a-video-of-it" deal was a pretty dick move.

I'm pretty sure if this was a woman on here knee, the man standing over her with a handful of her hair while yelling and hitting her the reactions would be much different.

The situation may be the same, but how it plays out is completely different.
