What the fuck, Rogue was awesome, and now it turns to garbage again?
Rouge was based on Black Flag, Which was good.
This seems closer to Unity, which was Garbage.
Pre-alpha would mean you don't have a functioning prototype yet, lmao.
Are there definitions for what pre-alpha/alpha/beta mean? Because I've never seen any and everyone uses them however they see fit.
My definition of these is usually:
Pre-Alpha - Prototype of the game running with rudimentary assets and rough code, as well as rough implementation of basic ideas.
Alpha - Actual game assets and a more careful approach to the code start creeping in and give you a better idea of what the game will look like.
Beta - Game ideas and assets mostly done and kinks and bugs to squash.
Gold - Game done and ready to ship.

But apparently, in the gaming world... these are often not the case, as is evident in Ubisofts case. :v:

Yes but a decent standardization wouldn't be a bad idea.
For example, even if there's no standard way to draw you shouldn't draw stuff bit by bit and adding detail from the start to different parts of the scene. Just like I can't imagine having a full asset library done to the game before the actual code is in it. If it works barebones then it's just a matter of fleshing it out. My guess is that doing this the other way around usually gives them bugs they didn't initially foresee when it should be the exact opposite.

Guy on the right ain't got time for this slow walking shit.
can we just stop caring about AC games now. too much energy to laugh this much at a successful series every single release.

It genuinely varies from developer to developer. They, and only they decide what state of completion their own game is at.
UT4 is at pre-alpha stage and even that already looks fucking incredible.
Knowing Ubisoft "Pre Alpha Footage" means that the game will look worse when released.
To be honest it looks worse than Unity did in previews, and like how it is post-patches with all its little pop-ins etc. For once this may resemble the final product but that's not exactly a good thing.
Can't really blame everyone for laughing at this and being pessimistic about it because of how Unity turned out, but a part of me thinks they learned their lesson and they aren't going to make the same mistake again. Then again this could just be me being wildly optimistic and way too forgiving but I'm at least interested enough with the setting and premise that I'll give it a shot. Just not at full price.
When Unity actually worked, it worked well. Too bad that was a rarity. If Ubisoft somehow fuck this game up like they did Unity they'll be fucked from that point onwards because third chances from customers in the gaming world tend to be a rarity. Unless you're a fanboy.
Also I get the feeling the pre-alpha footage is actually from a while back. I really doubt it was a recent build of the game.
the thing with these stealth games is that the ai is trash unless you turn it on hardcore
for example that one "using the environment to kill this one guy" segment would've definitely alerted some guys from the sounds
and that one scene where a civilian witnesses the murder of a gang member and shrugs it off with the throwing knives scene

Pre-Alpha: don't bitch at us it's in pre-alpha
Alpha: don't bitch at us it's in alpha
Beta: don't bitch at us it's in beta
Gold: don't bitch at us wait for the patches
Ubisoft logic: Let simultaneously announce a new game, a pre-alpha gameplay presentation of said game, and a release date that is less than 6 months out. Ubisoft is fucked in the head, they have no drive except to make profit off of the popularity of their brand. This is game industry cancer.
I never understand why they get people who can't speak properly to narrate gameplay footage. Guy sounds like he's got a mouth full of fuckin marbles. Carry-ajes

Perhaps i have grown up with the silver spoon in my mouth thanks to GTA IV/V (and Watch_Dogs even) where when you kill someone that the citizens will try to alert the local police but its rather odd that these two are just standing there saying "well thats odd".
I really like the setting and the quick animations. Though it's a shame they will probably launch the pre-alpha with tacked on micro-transactions as the finished game.
They wish to release a new AC every year but seeing as we are approaching more advanced graphics with more polygons and more effects its going to be hard for them to keep up with it.

There's like three different teams working on AC games so they have more than one year of development, it's the same deal as Call of Duty.
Except Syndicate is handled by the tertiary team which is pretty shit. The second team came up with black flag, as far as I remember.
Wait. Wasn't this game called Assasin's Creed Victory, or is it a new thing ?
Fuck. Every time I take a dump, there's like 3 new AC games being released.
Carriages! The possibilities are endless!
Ubisoft's favourite buzzphrase.
Also trying to hide the draw distance glitches, probably the pre-alpha tag was added as an afterthought.

You forgot the bit where CoD isn't a massive open world game and for the fact that 3 teams are working on 4 AC games. CoD has about 3 years per game and thats for a pretty straight forward shooter and within 3 years Ubi needs to develop an entire new world.
Not fair, really.

Sudden death was fairly normal back in the day. Nothing to be alert over.
The narrator said at the start "The city of London was the economic and financial heart of London..."
I had to listen to it again to make sure I wasn't having a stroke.

Actually that's sort of right. He said City of London was the economic center of London which is accurate, London has many boroughs, city of London is just one of them.

Oh, anyways, just talked to a friend about this video and...
it's like an intern made a first draft gameplay commentary and was supposed to send it to a focus group but released it by accident

Sums up the whole thing really. They both ignore it, and there's a guy standing on a bench.
If this is the effort they go to for the trailer, what hope does the game have?
I wish games did surprise releases; like some albums. That way you don't get all worked up about it, you're not disappointed by pre-release footage, and developers don't have to be worried about planned release dates. Just a pleasant surprise. Too bad it's not economically feasible.
I just can't take this series serious anymore.
Something about the way that guy was using his gun at around the 6 minute mark rubs me the wrong way. They were only firing a single shot before reloading (from a revolver, mind you), but also the animation for them holding it, that sort of standing sideways, arm raised but hand bent downwards kind of stance that this series likes to associate with flintlock pistols.

They don't seem very alarmed, either, that someone's sneaking around looking very shifty.
