Battlefield 1942 - Best for variety and hilarity
Battlefield Vietnam - Best for craziness and soundtrack
Battlefield 2 - Best for complexity and coordination
Battlefield 2142 - Best for Titan Mode and refining BF2
Bad Company 1&2 and Battlefield 3 - Best for consolizing and playing more like Call of Duty.

One and only.
Battlefield 3 looks like Real life from the trailers, with the beautiful detail.
I still prefer 2142, hell I got addicted to it. And holy jesus man sniping people has never been so great.
I still think that BF2142 is the best BF that there has ever been.
BF2 is way, way better.

Man, Battlefield 3 is not like Call of Duty. Enjoy your sauceless wings man.
Any Battlefield after 2142 isn't a real Battlefield.
Though I agree entirely, Battlefield 3 has completely blown me away, and really touched back on its roots. It's definitely up there with the best of the series.
Hated BC1, put it down after ten minutes because of the single player spawning system. The game felt incomplete when I just got pushed back to the checkpoint, but everything I had done stayed exactly the same.
But it was awesome because the singleplayer was on one big open map instead of separated cutscenes.
It got tedious at times but it made it more unique.
Arguably doesn't feel like a real Battlefield. Plays more like Bad Company and Call of Duty.
If you think it plays like Call of Duty then you need to play more Call of Duty since you obviously don't know how it works.
Battlefield 3's multiplayer feels to me like a half and half blend of BF2 and BC2. It has BC2's refined gameplay and a scale smaller than BF2's yet larger than BC2's.

If you consider BC2 to be the roots of the series, then yes, I agree entirely.
2142? Balanced? Bullshit.
The Voss is the only counter-argument needed here. That fucking LAR with a 40 round clip and the accuracy and stopping power of a fucking sniper rifle. It got you around corners, up 6 stories and in fog, nowhere was off limits for that gun.

Fast respawn, retarded use of killcam, lack of concern for objectives/Control points.
Won't find those in a Pre-Bad Company PC Battlefield game.
Anyways Battlefield 3 is pretty fun to play, from what I got in the beta. The problem was it never really felt like classic battlefield to me and seemed too hard trying to play it safe. A remake of 2142 would have been far more interesting and distinguishing, as 2142 deserves more attention and refinement.

Lets see... server definable... server definable... aaaaaand... only applies to Rush and the dumbed down Caspian that was used in the beta.

Except for concern for objectives (which I've seen so far), none of those things really define a Battlefield game.
Only noticeable difference to me from going to BF2 to BF3 is that large conquest is still a smaller and people aren't bunny jumping, grenade spamming, and generally acting like idiots which was a huge problem in BF2 and still is today.
Heh, friend and I hopped on a server once on 2142, and I kid you not... EVERYONE on the server was Assault, and every single damn one of them had that fucking Voss.
I went recon. Got sniped by that voss so many times. Friend decided to mix it up and tear out the Baur, and after passing the Admin in points, he was told to "turn off your aimbot, asshole" by the same admin.
Fucking Voss.

Haven't really noticed any overpowered stuff myself. I've been getting to the top of the scoreboards with the default guns.
I dont understand why people likes bf 2142, battlefield 2 is the best.
Mother. Fucking. Mechs. That wins me over alone.
After playing through BF3's campaign.. I can only really say wow. I don't think it's fair to compare it with CoD because it's leagues above it. The mission in the jet had me so immersed that I was nervous to the point of my hands shaking. That point, as well as [sp]when you halo jump as Dima[/sp] both play the Battlefield theme in full glory, and it sent chills down my spine.
Where BF3 is like Bad Company is in the close combat. I think this is a good thing because close combat wasn't as exciting for me in the earlier Battlefield titles. I was more for medium-long range infantry and vehicle play. BF3 captures that amazing gaming experience with the long range and vehicle gameplay, but brings the more interesting close combat of BC2 into it as well. When you play it, you really feel like everything they have done up to that point has all come together.
I would say that this is the next true Battlefield title. I don't know if it's my favorite yet, I need more time in it. So far, BF2 remains my favorite because of the jet/chopper gameplay, and running around like a little shit, blowing stuff up on the enemy carrier. 2142 is close behind though because it made infiltrating so much better (with the invisibility and all) but it was missing jet-like vehicles. Titan mode made up for that though.
Anyway, I would definitely recommend BF3 to any fan of the series. A+ work by DICE.
Battlefield 2142 was the last Battlefield.
Goodnight sweet series.
BF3 will have some fun to it, I enjoyed BC2 as well. But I get this feeling that for me, it will be no where near BF2. BF3 Beta played somewhat like BC2, sure i mean there's jets now, but I'm not a big fan of the XP system to get unlocks. As well as the fact that most pilots spend the majority of the time having dogfights.
On a side note, I hope to see the radar at the first choke point on Karkand flood with blips everywhere, just like BF2
I fucking loved Battlefield: Vietnam
Thankfully they didn't mention that abomanation battlefield heroes.
I literally watched all 45 minutes of it.
It was a good damn video.
This guy sounds like the Rockstar narrator, epic
Thankfully they didn't mention that abomanation battlefield heroes.
It was mentioned in passing, along with BF Online, BF F2P, and 1943.
Honestly, Battlefield 3 seems like a mesh of the more refined and tighter emphasis on Infantry combat (from BC) mixed with vast maps and vehicular combat (from BF2 and before), like DICE compiling all of their experience and knowledge into one full product as the true newest addition to the franchise.
If you consider BC2 to be the roots of the series, then yes, I agree entirely.
Hell no. The combat is similar to BC2, but when I'm player multiplayer, it feels more like BF2 than anything.
I remember when I thought Battlefield 2's graphics were realistic.

The finished product is much different/better than the beta.
Do people still play 2142? Because that was the only BF game I haven't played, and I would love to try it out.
I really hope they bump up the respawn time for BF3. That's about the biggest issue I've really had, otherwise I've had a blast with the game so far. Finished the SP, was happy.
