I know you aren't supposed to directly come out and say you want to make a meme of something or else the joke becomes forced, but I just want to say these Jared Leto Joker captions are fucking hilarious.
As for the trailer, as someone who isn't much of a DC fan, the trailer was a little corny but I wouldn't sat it was absolutely terrible. Harley Quinn had some corny lines and one of the other characters looks like a goomba from that Mario Brothers movie, but it could be worse.

In the animated series, yeah, but in the Arkhamverse she's supposed to be more like Joker's lesser, and sometimes in the comic she's supposed to be Joker's Robin.

Its been confirmed that there are several flashbacks to Harleys origin in the film. This trailer was clearly going for the whole action-comedy aspect, so of course its not going to have a quick stop off were it explains that she's essentially Jokers emotionally and physically beaten house wife.
Hell you even see part of it in the trailer(although its got aspects of the shitty New52 version it seems)
I didn't like what I saw in the trailer for Harley either but to reiterate what I said in the Deadpool thread, its a trailer, there's no time for set-up and pay-off jokes, you want to use those 3 minutes to entice viewers of the widest possible viewing range and action-comedies sell the best.

Depending on the comics she's a criminal mastermind who pretends to be a dumbass to remain under the radar until the time is right.
But in the animated series where she debuted she's a crazy joker fangirl who's got some moments of genius hidden by her otherwise crippling stupidity. She got a lot more fleshed out during the series and in following appearances because she became a fan favorite really quick.

It's mostly about the fact that Keanu willingly took a smaller pay cut so that the rest of the crew could get more money, which did have an impact on the quality of the film.

I hate the not-Lizard shit that they tried to push for a while, giving him a snout and a tail.
But I agree with Zukriuchen, he does need bigger traps.
The best of both worlds for me would be if we saw him mutate a bit through out the film, getting bigger and such.

Honestly, considering this is his first live-action experience, I'm down with what they went with. It's not perfect but it's pretty serviceable.

Tangentially related, but I wonder how characters like Groot or Rocket Raccoon would turn out if Guardians of the Galaxy was a DC franchise. Hell, it really makes you wonder how would the movie as a whole have turned out if it was from DC and Warner Bros instead of Marvel Studios...
