I hate it how people say calling someone from Pakistan a Paki is racist when they also say that calling someone from Britain a Brit is not racist. Its one or the other people.
I don't care about it, it's just that other races are so hypocritical and ignorant.
how ironic is this?

Yeah! It's like as if we ignore history, cultural precedent, and privilege, then everything is all weird!!!1

That's the key word, we did not do anything, we were not part of the suppression of black people, you can't keep saying "but we was suppressed, so you racist", because that was a long time ago.

That's not what he's talking about
That's not what he's talking about
Really? Oh, then disregard what I said.
I like how saying black guys eating fried chicken is racist but if someone says they have big dicks then it's all "DAYUM STRAIGHT, MAN"
[editline]6th November 2010[/editline]
It's not racism, it's not even insulting-- It's stereotyping. But, people get it confused.
[editline]6th November 2010[/editline]
Even the government stereotypes, do you think they look for a black guy sneaking bombs into planes? No, they look for the Indian guy because he comes from the same continent as Muslim extremist groups.
Mmm, chicken.

There is a difference between a phrase with a positive connotation and a phrase with a negative connotation.
There is a difference between a phrase with a positive connotation and a phrase with a negative connotation.
So how is black guys eating fried chicken negative and having big dicks positive, or vice-versa?
So how is black guys eating fried chicken negative and having big dicks positive, or vice-versa?
Both are stereotypes, it's just that nobody bitches over them when they are flattering rather than insulting.
Also I hate the term African American.
My French teacher is black, straight from Burkina-Faso, moved here like 4 years ago.
He is not an American citizen. He would just be african, but that's not even a race.
He's black. I don't see what's so bad about people being black, why do we need to make up another supposedly "less offensive" term for it?
Not every black person is African-American, and that's not even really a race.
Also when people call me a Jew (which is what I am), and then say "OH I'M SORRY I JUST USED AN OFFENSIVE TERM"
No you didn't, we are called Jews, don't call us "Hebrews" or "Israelis" (I'm not even remotely from Israel) or "Person of the Jewish descent". I don't call you a "Person of the christian descent".
The correct word is Jew.
The retarded part is that most people who are ultra nice to your religion aren't even from Germany.
And even then, the Germans shouldn't be guilty for their ancestors.

Both should be bannable if you are banning for stereotypes.
I hate it how people say calling someone from Pakistan a Paki is racist when they also say that calling someone from Britain a Brit is not racist. Its one or the other people.
no. Brit doesn't have a negative connotation (unless you're in some post-colonial shithole) where as Paki refers to anyone from India/Pakistan who talks with an accent.
I like how saying black guys eating fried chicken is racist but if someone says they have big dicks then it's all "DAYUM STRAIGHT, MAN"
That's because it's a positive stereotype. It's like saying all Asians are smart. Why would an Asian complain about being stereotyped as being smart?

...Notice how I'm replying to a post about "Paki" and "Brit"?

Because it makes it seem like we don't have to do any work to get to where we are, like we're just naturally smart. Same with drawing(I'm not even good), math, etc.
It annoys me because they're saying I've never had to do any work when I'm actually working hard.
the absolutely fucking hilarious part of this thread is that you clearly didn't even read your own definitions.
"something conforming to a fixed or general pattern; especially : a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or uncritical judgment"
a stereotype is inherently racist you fucking dunce
The impression I get is that most people don't think you're not working hard, it's just you have incredibly strict parents and good work ethic
So how is black guys eating fried chicken negative and having big dicks positive, or vice-versa?
Saying that all Asians drive bad is used in a mocking/negative connotation. Saying that they're all smart is used with a positive connotation.
Stereotypes can often be racist indirectly, even if based off a person's experiences through life they seem to be very true.

And both are dehumanizing and ultimately bad things. Crazy, isn't it?
And both are dehumanizing and ultimately bad things. Crazy, isn't it?
Only bad when the 'victim' itself feels as though any harm can bought about by such words. Plus usually they are delivered as jokes, but people with sticks up their butts get prissy about it. Easily comes about when they themselves feel uncomfortable in their own skin. It's like how white people don't really get bothered by red-neck jokes or dumb blond jokes... at least from the way I see it.
You want dehumanizing and bad? Segregate the other race, do not give them the same rights as you, give the 'superior' race more job opportunities, spit at them as they walk, prohibit them from being close to someone of the 'superior' race, immediately associate them in a negative light due to their skin color (in a professional setting) etc...
From what I've seen, Black people in America have been given plenty of opportunities to succeed. Then again, I only base this from what I've seen on the media.
Anyway, look at the entire issue with Sri Lanka. That is hardcore Racism.
In Singapore, I've heard of cases where by my friends were not able to join a sport club because they only wanted Chinese students, or teachers brushing them off (even as kids). There's also this major issue where a lot of the jobs they offer require you to speak Mandarin. Sucks to be a Indian or a Muslim who does not speak Mandarin when the official language is English. I am not even going to start on the media. I've only seen white and yellow people there.
TH89 doesn't know what racism is
