It looks like it was several miles away so their survival probabilities (from the nuke anyway) are quite high assuming they aren't exposed to too much radioactive fallout.

Plus the fact that the guy watching through the telescope just yelled and didn't lose his fucking eye on that...

Dear god, the Brothers Strause don't even have to be attached to something like Alien Vs Predator to produce something so vapid of any entertainment. They're like the sci-fi/alien version of Friedberg and Seltzer, those 2 guys who directed Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, etc.
