What do you have against Pavement? Looking at the bands you already like it seems that you'd love them.

Well then, check them out. They're very good.
Also could anyone get me some good punk similar to Gang of Four. I just got into them and I like them a lot.
Music for reference.

Their first two, Slanted and Enchanted, and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain are both masterpieces. The first one is a lot more raw and sloppy, and second one sounds a lot more focused then the first one, but both of them have great, catchy songs on it.
otay, i will take a look at these

Check out Brian Eno. He was very influential in ambient music, although his earlier stuff is more glam rock than ambient.

I don't really like it, I think I like the more electronic stuff. I'm not really sure. (For Ambient) despite Brian Eno supposedly being the "founder" of ambient music.
Thanks for trying.
Anyone recommend any of Aphex Twin's compilations/albums?
I like SID metal.

If you like his more ambient, calmer stuff then get Selected Ambient Works 85-92. If you like his more crazy stuff then get the Richard D. James album.
Listening to 85-92 now, pretty good.
Thanks, thought Aphex Twin was just stuff like Come to Daddy.
Always wanted to make Ambient Music.

You may like Selected Ambient Works 2. It's a double CD, and it's a lot more sparse and dark then 85-92, but it's still pretty good.

Also check out the Orb. They're ambient house. Very good stuff.
