I've basically just entered the heavy metal scene, and I love it to death. The three main genres I like most are heavy metal, thrash, and death if I feel like it. I really enjoy good guitar work, and I don't care what period of time it is from. Due to my limited Australian internet, so far I have Judas Priest, Megadeth and Evile, which are the only really heavy bands that I have at the moment. Can somebody please direct me to the bands I should pick up and enjoy?
Also, don't link me to power metal. I can't stand power metal at all.
Anyhting that is really relaxing. Something like Moby,Enya,Enigma,Coldplay(The piano songs in general),Sigúr ros.
So basically chill music in general that i might not have heard before

You might like the sound of Cold War Kids. They aren't very grungy but they're definitely alternative rock.

Dinosaur Jr (album You're Living All Over Me is by far the best)
Sonic Youth
Pj Harvey (first 2 albums)
Meat Puppets
Screaming Trees
The Wipers
Mudhoney
Pixies
Pavement
The Jesus And Mary Chain

Eluvium
Arvo Part
Brian Eno
My Bloody Valentine
Nick Drake
Cat Power, Moon Pix album
Earth, later albums
Amiina
The Evpatoria Report

The National
I want more Disturbed, but they only have a total of 50 songs. Can anyone recommend a Disturbed-like band?
Slipknot
Anything nu metal really, although you could start expanding into better metal, early metallica, megadeth, slayer, Venom etc
Cowboy Bebop has a really good jazz band.
