Thanks they are very good! I will probably listen to them all the time now.
Start with their Thickfreakness album. It is too easy to begin with their more successful stuff :v:
I'm looking for something similar to: The White Stripes Cage the Elephant The Dead Weather Jet The Fratellis
You'll probably like the Arctic Monkeys and the Strokes for that sort of garage band type feel those bands have.
Why is the thread so inactive?
There is a huge album thread that has craploads of recommendations. This thread is only for the odd question about genres and styles mainly. Also try www.rateyourmusic.com It may seem biased, but you've got to be open to everything on there. Great place.

anyone who loves good 80s style thrash should check out a band called evile. they have pretty good lyrics, very well done instruments, and the vocals are like the second coming of james hetfield (in the 80s) they are so good
This is GREAT I love Level and Steady as she goes.
Be sure to get both albums. Consoler of the Lonely is an awesome song

I listen to Yes, Pink Floyd, ELP, King Crimson and Tool + Electric Wizard (don´t ask me why). So proggy stuff mostly. I´ve listened to Moving Pictures and I quite like it, so other albums by Rush would be nice, or albums by any prog rock band really. Also progressive metal probably, though I don´t really like really sort of metall-y stuff. And I don´t mean heavy, Electric Wizard is the heaviest shit you can find, but bands that sound like too generic metal, eg. Opeth or Dream Theater. So unique or unconventional sounding stuff. I could probably get into other Doom/Stoner Metal bands, too (Sleep?).
Anni Rossi Matt & Kim Starfucker Ben Folds Two Door Cinema Club The Guggenheim Grotto gogogo
Phoenix, Passion Pit, Friendly Fires, Yeasayer, and maybe Hot Chip.

I've been basically listening exclusively to them for the past few days and they're probably my favourite prog-rock band at the moment. for album suggestions try Selling England By the Pound, Foxtrot or Nursery Cryme
Looking for something similar to Eminem and Army of the Pharaohs basically really clever, violent rap/hip hop [editline]21st January 2011[/editline] and funny too

^ That song got me hooked on them. You might also like John Spencers Blues Explosions, it's a bit closer to the black keys Anyone got something to recommend to me? Here's a list of music I really like: Beat Happening Halo Benders Mount Eerie The Microphones ^ if you can find something similar to those four I'd jump a hole in the roof Built to Spill Guided By Voices Pavement The Smiths Replacements Paul Westerberg Rites of Spring Bob Dylan's early work up until Bringing it All Back Home Armand Boudewijn De Groot Best Coast Beach Fossils Jeff The Brotherhood Bibio Black Moth Super Rainbow Ariel Pinks Haunted Graffiti (only the Doldrums and Before Today albums) The Robot Ate Me The Antlers < love their buildups, also his high voices gives me the chills sometimes. Johnny Hobo and The Freight Trains ^ I've been trying to get into punk a bit more, if anyone can get any of this raw shit electrified I'd appreciate it. Paul Baribeau Wingnut Dishwashers Union Jason Anderson < this guy right here gives me chills down my spine, the same with Mount Eerie. Astrobrite
A while ago I really began loving cinematic orchestra type music. And the music in the Skyrim teaser trailer has really caught my attention. I can't get enough of it. Anyone know of any composer's who tend to make similar music like that, with a men's choir and what have you? Edit: I know of E.S. Posthumus (if you don't have their music, try get it. Really great) I have quite a few of Hans Zimmer's OST's. So if you know anyone else, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty difficult when it comes to getting into new music. I hate having any music which sounds just like stuff I already have. So I'll post a couple of my favourite bands, if you guys want to recommend anything I'd enjoy it'd be appreciated. Foo Fighters Rise Against Muse Lamb of God Karnivool All That Remains As I Lay Dying Dead Letter Circus Pendulum Eels Children of Bodom John Butler Trio Art vs Science Metallica Wolfmother System of a Down Devildriver
Huh, they are pretty good I never heard of them.
I accidentally stumbled onto them rummaging through my old music magazines about 2 weeks ago. :buddy: [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
I've been listening to a lot of early hardcore punk lately, specifically Dead Kennedys and Black Flag. Can someone suggest more bands like them? Some shoegaze bands would be nice as well, as I'm already listening to My Bloody Valentine.
Astrobrite is quite cool, it took me about 2 or 3 tries to really appreciate them for something other then noise but it was worth it for me. Got into them with the fairly standard shoegaze song "overdriver": Stayed for the stuff like crusher: If anyone has something similar that I'd like to hear it.
