Why not try "Instrumental Hip Hop". DJ Shadow - Endtroducing Can't stress how good that album is.
I second this. Also I'm glad you liked Illmatic. Great album. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Also check out The Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Will look into that Also wondering, is there any rap/hip-hop that has more instrumental stuff going on than a bassline and a beat on the drums?
Obligatory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09hTeyegnQE I can send lots more.
Honestly I don't know what I'm looking for. I'm all over the place. But here's what I like: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Muse The Killers Regina Spektor Cosmo Jarvis Meiko Passion Pit Peter Paul and Mary Simon and Garfunkel. Welp.

I chuckled; Edward Sharpe is all the rage with 17 year old hipster girls here.
I chuckled; Edward Sharpe is all the rage with 17 year old hipster girls here.
As long as I like their music I don't care how popular/unpopular they are.
Wisdom. Their fame or fanbase should have no impact on what you listen to.
I need something mellow/ambient I can revise to. Something similar to Burial or Four Tet would be nice.
Bibio seems to fit.

Pretty much anything that Pete Rock has produced is insta-great. One of the finest hip hop beatmakers in history. Maybe check out Afrika Bambaataa and A Tribe Called Quest as well.
Pete Rock is legendary but I think it's too simple for what he's looking for.
Anyone got something similar to Superman is Dead or The Distillers.
Modest Mouse I've already got Ugly Casanova.
Built to spill.
Hoping to find something similiar to Transatlantic's 'The Whirlwind', any ideas?
I want moar stuff like Justice. Go
Freak Folk. Gimme some. :3:

Could someone recommend me some calm music with only piano and drums and no vocals? Last time I heard a few and I liked it a lot (even though I'm no big fan of calm music), but I don't know who does such music. Take a look here: http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/1372261/db6c569b/gastvrouw_van_het_jaar.html video is extremely unrelated but the music is exactly what I'm talking about
Freak Folk. Gimme some. :3:
I'm liking a lot of this. I need a view on where to start.
There are four CDs I want to buy. Pictures of Nectar - Phish The Best Band You've Never Heard In Your Life - Frank Zappa Hot Rats - Frank Zappa And I need to re-buy Thick as a Brick. Lost my old copy and moved to a different hard drive and lost the :files: too. Which should I go for first.
Zappa's Hot Rats. Sublime album. You should try some Progressive Folk too, it really is great.
