FPS Russia Almost Dies From Shrapnel. - General

The shrapnel is very clearly coming straight for him and by some stroke of the most extreme luck ever it veers just to the side of him after hitting the ground. You can actually see the moment where he shits himself. Maybe he will start thinking about barriers.

You can see that he releases eye contact towards the camera twice, looking towards his right after he says "thats a lot of shrapnel". Probably concerned about the possibility of any injuries that were inflicted on the man who yelled out "holy fucking shit".

Does he have any background in the military? He seems to think he knows a lot about the military application of weapons or is that him talking shit?

He sees the piece of shrapnel going for him and turns around preparing for the impact, then sits still looking around. He was expecting it to hit him :v:. Hopefully he'll remember this one and will be more cautious from now on.

Video's back up. I don't really get the hatred that gets directed at FPSRussia. I find him enjoyable to watch, and he's just a cool guy who makes videos about guns and has done well for himself. And when people complain about the fact that he's not Russian, it's practically the biggest part of his channel. If he dropped the accent, it'd be weird and about half his subscriber base would up and lose interest. It's the same with the Yogscast - sure, people may find them annoying or milking their Minecraft videos, but if they stopped they'd lose half their subscriber base and half their money. As for the video itself, I don't see why he'd fake that particular scene. It's not like he's got the thumbnail all set up with "I ALMOST DIED!" and he doesn't even bring it up. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he brings out even slightly more stringent safety measures next video.

He got famous by being a Russian-accented crazy guy who shot at stuff, and it's a formula that he repeats because it works. They may be cowa-doody kids, but they're as important as serious weapon fanatics/YouTube critics because they're how he makes his money. 2. I don't know much about this situation, but I don't imagine he knows the first thing about how making a game would work, even a Flash one. So he'd likely have to hire people. Then there's the general Kickstarter/crowdsourcing bandwagon, which more or less everyone seems to be getting in on. 3. Isn't part of his channel's charm that he's mostly just a regular guy who shoots stuff in his back yard? This video has likely taught him a lesson that he needs to take safety precautions. 4. There was the Black Ops II quadrotor thing, but this was a massive piece of shrapnel that we see flying off the car in the slo-mo shot. As for the Russian accent thing, he seemed to me like he was trying desperately to keep his act up so he wouldn't have to do the take again.

I like FPSRussia for the same reason I like any other firearm-shooting YouTuber like hickok45 or Iraqveteran8888 - I get to see some cool guns in action. Cool guns I'll never get my hands on.
