If Battlefield got nominated and won I'd be pissed, because BF1 isn't a great game, it's popular but it's not that good. It's regular Battlefield with a WW1 skin, it's insulting to the material it uses and it's story is pathetic. But OW is popular and good. [editline]2nd December 2016[/editline] I get it's subjective but yh, my opinion.
Overwatch has great porn I'll give it that
Personally I would have preferred Doom far over Overwatch, but at least it's not Uncharted 4...
What's wrong with the popular game winning? Or Uncharted 4? Also too popular?
is uncharted 4 even popular [editline]1st December 2016[/editline] how is doom NOT popular
No Man's Sky should have won GotY.
seriously reaching for this "its just contrarian" crap
Guys, imo I think it's not worth arguing over who should have really won. I think we can all agree that whether you agree Overwatch deserved it or not, TGA is a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Apparently it's Geoff Keighley's show so no wonder. Did golden joystick get announced? I liked them better.
yeah my favorite moba features in overwatch are gaining exp, destroying towers, fighting in lanes, fighting creeps, collecting gold to buy items to improve my hero oh wait
Cooldowns are also a huge part of MOBAs

I get indifference but not dislike. It's all subjective anyway.
Cooldowns are also a huge part of MOBAs
Every game with cooldowns is now a MOBA.
Cooldowns are also a huge part of MOBAs
character abilities and cooldowns don't define the entire moba genre
:stop:
There was no mention of any ancient evils in that Mass Effect Andromeda trailer, thankfully.
No mention of Quarians either.
There was no mention of any ancient evils in that Mass Effect Andromeda trailer, thankfully.
They don't want to tip their hand too soon
No mention of Quarians either.
I guarantee they'll be back. No way they won't pander to the fans with a Tali 2.0
I guarantee they'll be back. No way they won't pander to the fans with a Tali 2.0
Hope you're right, I'll accept that pandering with open arms...
No mention of Quarians either.
what will i ever do to fill the Tali shaped void in my heart :frown: on a serious note, it won't surprise me if they do happen to come back
They do so love bringing back carbon copies of fan favorites at Bioware. SWTOR got an HK-55 in an expansion last year (basically same character as KOTOR's HK-47, slightly more unique from 47 than the HK-51 from many updates prior) and also had several months of HK related subscriber rewards they milked, including a bonus chapter to play as 55 that had a 47 cameo using a replica droid. [editline]2nd December 2016[/editline] Hell the new expac for SWTOR comes out tomorrow and I played early access for it and one of the new factions employs tons of HK-51 units. There was also several raids with the real HK-47 as a boss, an entire expac dedicated to Darth Revan etc
What game won "Best Fan Creation" ? I missed the awards, and looking on the website Metroid II and Pokemon Uranium were both removed and no winner chosen?
What game won "Best Fan Creation" ? I missed the awards, and looking on the website Metroid II and Pokemon Uranium were both removed and no winner chosen?
Wasn't one afaik.
What game won "Best Fan Creation" ? I missed the awards, and looking on the website Metroid II and Pokemon Uranium were both removed and no winner chosen?
It was between Brutal Doom 64 and Enderal, they didn't announce a winner.
What did we do wrong to get 2 new telltale games in 1 show
They've done that the last several years; they also did so with Borderlands/Game of Thrones in 2013, and Batman/Michonne last year.
lot's of goty worthy games this year, and overwatch is definitely goty material, idk why people get mad.
It's not Doom.
GOTY has always been a popularity contest
I like how the stream recording got copyrighted and permanently muted. It's just a flawless system, isn't it?
i think its a shame that Inside won the categories that it did. cant help but feel that people are falling for the pretentious bullshit it carries over from Limbo because quite frankly i've heard no one talk about it. game awards always does this where some game no one talks about ends up winning categories
I'm a little disappointed Furi didn't get nominated for anything, but I guess it isn't mainstream enough to appear on the big mainstream awards show. Overwatch is legitimately a really good game at its core, it's just that the community behind it is destined to be bad because it a 6v6 competitive MOBA-esque thing. People will always take it incredibly seriously and be perpetually BMed. At the very least, I'm glad Uncharted didn't win GOTY. Gameplay was completely underwhelming after playing shit like DOOM and TiFa2.
I don't think Overwatch was undeserving of Game of the Year, but I do think other games (Titanfall 2) deserved it way more. I think the big issue with The Game Awards is that the judges are people from various game studios (such as Valve) and youtubers and esports gamers. It always leads to fucking nonsense based on hype, like Dragon Age winning GOTY in 2014 despite releasing like the week before the awards. The game was totally undeserving and the only reason it was nominated (and won) was because it was the hot thing at the time of voting. Really I think no matter what, you're going to get bullshit when it comes to video game awards because the medium is still relatively "fresh" and it's difficult to judge objectively.
