and regarding that 1.6 patch, it'll get stuck at " patch 1.60 has been applied successfully." for a while, and then after like five or so minutes it'll start updating the DLC's, and get stuck again
just give it some time, it's not broken, after it successfully updates the DLC's it should give you the "OK" button to close it

Try DE:HR at Give Me Deus Ex difficulty doing a strictly non-lethal playthrough and starting with the tranq rifle. Everytime i found tranq ammo, or nutrient bars i squealed like a little girl in a doll store. And over time i had collected like 30 stun gun darts, and when i finally found a stun gun i was yelling "YES!" and pumping my arms so much i fell out of my chair. The game was flawlessly smooth after that.
