I'd like to play with you guys but you play at the WORST times for me.
Plus i'm still completely lost when it comes to playing ARMA.
Arma isn't a confusing game in any way. It's just attained some sort of reputation for being an intense simulator or something, and is a bit daunting I guess at first because of that. But there's only a very few simple functions for vanilla arma that are used, such as basic manuevering of oneself, accessing gear, sighting in, a few other miscellaneous functions, and then the rest are mostly ACE functions that you can be taught/learn along the way.

No it's the controls. They're everywhere. There is a key for every function and i can't configure them all in a comfortable way.

The only buttons I find myself using often besides WASD are Q and E for leaning, R for reloading, C, X and Z for standing/crouched/prone, G to open my gear dialog, M to open my map and K to get a compass bearing.
It gets really streamlined once you stick with it, trust me.
Now of course there are obscure but useful buttons that are, on occasion used often, such as / to switch from CQB sights to normal optics and other such things.
And the little bastard *, when my fucking view gets all centered on me and I can't move and it's annoying and damnit why the fuck did they include it etc

The controls Tark mentioned are literally the only controls you'll use regularly, unless you're bothering to play with AI teammates (not fun).

Some other miscellaneous controls you don't really need but are useful. Double tapping ctrl lowers and raises your gun (you lose less stamina when it's down, as well as the comfort of it not feeling like CoD while you point your weapons at everyone you want to face), hold the alt key to look around (with your head, body doesn't move), pressing Enter on the numpad toggles third/first person, and holding I in multiplayer to see how big your E-peen is.
Double tapping keys generally toggles functions, like double tapping k to keep the compass on the screen (and in your face covering 1/3 your monitor), or double tapping alt to toggle freelook.
