There's so many djent bands and I like p much all of them. But for some reason I don't like Meshuggah.

Give Revocation a try. Great guitarist, really the highlight of the band.

Kind of strange seeing as you don't like In Flames who had a huge influence on melodeath, and you don't like Meshuggah who had a huge influence on djent.

I like old In Flames, like everything before he changed his vocal style to that which he uses now. It's just the singing of In Flames I don't like. Colony and earlier.

Also hatebreed & devildriver IMO are terrible, terrible groups.
DevilDriver are pretty good, in my opinion. At least [i]Fury[/i] is. Don't really like any of their other albums.
Can't say anything about Hatebreed, since I don't listen to 'em, though.

I'd say start out with the classics like Dcalde and probably five others beat me to. Can't go wrong with Priest, Maiden, or Sabbath. Thrash is also worth looking into; Metallica, Megadeth, Sodom, and Testament are good places to start. I also like doomy, sludgy metal. Look into bands like Corrosion of Conformity, Electric Wizard, Bongzilla. Also Dream Theater. Listen to DT, definitely. Sometimes the vocals seem out of place but they're awesome overall. And then there's Mastodon, that's all I need to say. If you want death metal, I suggest Opeth, the one death band I can stand. And I fucking love them. And there's Acid Bath. They're sort of like what would happen if death metal had a train wreck into southern rock in a mental asylum. Needless to say they are awesome. Good luck.
oh yeah and Motorhead. Motorhead kick fucking ass, listen to them. Listen to them or Lemmy will personally knock your teeth out. This I guarantee.
