One thing I would suggest is LED therapy. True Violet colored light is where acne bacteria is extremely sensitive to photons at the 420nm wavelength (UV is 10nm-400nm). I recently bought a few 3 Watt LEDs (which need heatsinks btw) and it really has reduced a lot of acne I had, and my face is a lot less greasy.

I fucking hate these, they're just ruining my otherwise pretty face

Buy a derma roller, those are well known to do just a good of a job as laser resurfacing without spending thousands of dollars ($50 for a decent quality one). Oh, I also heard that deep red light (660nm) can help with scars too. Vitamin C cream can help even more. I have read that people using derma rollers, Vitamin C cream, and red LEDs even got rid of deep ice pick type scaring, which wouldn't even seem possible.
I have acne on my butt sometimes.
Change your sweaty underwear?
i use this, it like works in 4 hours..

Ha, I had it pretty bad in high school but now my face is clear as glass. Here's what worked for me. I started getting it around the middle of middles school. At that time I was really unhygenic, showered whenever I felt like it, not to get clean which was like 2-3 times a week.
Like everyone, as I got older, I got into girls and realized they aren't going to be checking out a dirty slob so I started showering every day before school. It helped because I didn't have a bunch of grease sitting on my face, especially since I have oily as fuck skin, but still had acne. I tried the cream for a while, except I smothered it on my face which just dried out my skin which just made it worse. So I tried the pads which worked better but still dried out my skin. Eventually I realized a lot of it was from the soap I was using. I was using Axe body wash which dries out your skin like a mother fucker. Stay away from that, and stuff like red zone, and Irish spring. Soap wise, what I noticed works best is women's body wash that hydrates your skin (it'll say hydrating blah, blah, blah on the bottle) Yeah, it's for women but who gives a shit. No one will know, it works good, and it's better than being covered it zits. Maske sure you don't buy the cheap shit too. The pricier stuff works best. I try not to cheap out on body wash.
Another thing I noticed is my sheets on my bed. I never washed them often and I was rolling around in my own grease for weeks on end. Keep your sheets and pillow case clean and anything that touches your forehead, like hats, or whatever else. Also, do not touch your face unless you have to. Your just getting more crap on your face.
Popping zits is fine too. Just don't force them. Just give them a good squeeze and if they don't pop. leave it. don't keep trying, otherwise it's just going to get inflamed, and its going to hurt like a bitch and be really noticeable. Just put a small dab of spot treatment on it. rub it in if you're going out so it won't be noticeable. I used tinted (it was colored orange) to help hide it. If they do pop, wipe off the puss with a piece of toilet paper, and just give it another small squeeze to make sure it's all out. Keep dabbing it until the blood clots and it stops bleeding.
Anyway, I got into the routine of waking up (in clean sheets), taking a shower, using hydrating body wash, Using the pads, popping any zits I could pop easily, and putting spot treatment on ones that were still forming. It will take a while but your face should start clearing up. You should see some results in a week. If your face starts drying out a lot try a different body wash or different pads.
Also for those of us blessed with facial hair, try not to dry shave. Use shaving cream (I wet my face, and the razor before I put on shaving cream) And shave with the grain, then against the grain. Shaving against the grain first pulls on the hairs more and your skins might be a little red and broken out. Shaving with the grain shortens the hairs first. It's not a big deal, it just helps. Plus it's more comfortable. I've seen guys dry shave every day and never break out. Really, it depends on how your skin is, and if you're reading this thread, you should probably take my advise. Also make sure you put aftershave on afterwards. It's probably the most helpful thing you can do plus girls fucking love the smell.
This is all just shit I've learned over the years that works for me because no one ever taught me. Try it and if it works, good on you, and if doesn't, just try tweaking some stuff. Overall though. It comes down to time and age. Everyone's going through puberty and it's a natural but sucky part of life. Like taking a big hairy shit. You'll grow out of it in time. Good luck.
facepunch, my back is an acne nest. it has been for about 4 months. now i will take a step forwards and ask your help: what do i do?
there's also on my shoulders
I typically don't get bad acne, but for some reason, whenever I get a haircut, my acne goes insane.
[editline]16th December 2011[/editline]
I should also note, that the reason I don't get acne is because my skin is usually not greasy, but I think it's because my skin doesn't produce that much oils compared to a normal person. At times, my skin gets so itchy because it's dry that it drives me insane.
Finally finished accutane. Dermatologist said it was the worst he's seen. severe chest and back acne. Chest left behind the hyper whatever scars. he said there's nothing to do but that doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure there's a facility in OK to help me. right? :(
roaccutane
dry painful lips, but that shit works wonders. i've heard all the "durr it gives you blood poisoning" crap, and when i asked my dermatologist, he flatly rejected it. it's really not a dangerous drug.
When you shave, wet your face with hot water first, then when you're washing the foam off and splashing your face, use really cold water.
I use this day and night, and I hardly ever get spots, still get a few blackheads though.

when i got acne, i just left it there and it disappeared over time
5% Benzoyl Peroxyde face wash
Won't do anything about the scars from before but if you have mild acne give this stuff a shot, I swear by it
I rip them out, like all of them. I look awesome right now.
I always thought that was an absolute no-no. Introducing scars and all that
this shit

works like a charm for me
So I shave my face and I break out and shimmer in the sunlight.
How do I fix this without constantly looking like my face is covered in pubes?

I shaved three hours ago and already I can feel a painful motherfucker of a zit trying to come out.
Fuck.
Shaving sucks, I agree.

Wash your face before shaving and after, both times wash with hot then rinse immediately with cold (opens pores, cleans them out, then closes them again)
replacing the regular 2-3 blade knife with a 1 blade when shaving might assist in getting rid of the ingrown hairs.
Also, I guess people here got zits on their faces so I suggest people buy the babyliss shaver, don't have the exact model, but it's got a "net" sort of head, with very tiny holes, allowing a shave almost at the same level as the knife but with no ingrown hairs and zits. Very easy on the skin.
Hi. I've been using proactiv for about 7 months now. It's worked well for me, as I very rarely get a pimple, and if I do, it's never more than one at a time. However, my skin is kind of red and blotchy on my cheeks. These spots aren't raised about the skin or scabby or anything, it just feels like normal skin. Anyone know how to make my skin go back to normal?

Its scarring. Makeup can be used to cover it up, but that is temporary and takes time to put on. Laser surgery can help but will cost 1000-2000 dollars generally. Non-laser surgeries can be applied with laser surgery, or alone, and include things such as physically cutting or punching out the scar tissue and sewing the skin back together to reheal OR skin grafting, freeing up the scar tissue so it rises back to the surface and removes the pitting effect, injections underneath the scars to do the same thing, and more.
Other methods are also available like creams, but those tend to not help as much, but of course they're much less invasive and are cheaper in the short term.
The redness should go away over time, I think, but the pitting will be present for the most part for the majority of your life unless you do get surgery. But its okay, later in life it doesn't really matter as much...
Lawrence Fishburne, for example, is a famous actor and you'd never really sit there and be like "OH MY GOSH HE HAS SCARS FROM ACNE?!":

Use the body wash that proactive comes with on your face.
I find it helps.

Just get one of those loofa things and some good soap / bodywash and wash it daily in the shower and scrub moderately hard, but not hard enough to where you scratch your skin or break your acne. You just need to exfoliate really. After that, you should get some Vaseline brand body lotion (they make it for guys) and put a tad on there because you'll probably dry out. Don't smother your back in it though, because it is slightly comedogenic and will clog your pores if you use too much.
I had the same problem and now I only have one or two bumps pop up every once in a while.
As far as acne goes, I just use Nivea for men face scrub and Nivea for men moisturizer while I'm in the shower, then apply any spot treatment (usually Clearasil) and then put on a decent men's facial moisturizer as to not have flaky skin from all of the cleaning. I currently use some Neutrogena with like SPF 15 in it, but I've used other stuff before too (Nivea, Everyman Jack).
Just make sure you scrub, cleanse, spot treat, and moisturize in that order and do it every day (though you can limit scrubbing to like 3-4 days a week).
The only problem I face now is a VERY slight problem area on my left temple and some very wide pores on my nose (still figuring it out). Hope this advice helped.
I only get blackheads, billions on my forehead but they're really tiny. When I try to get rid of them my skin gets red as fuck and it looks like I've got a rash or some nasty shit like that. How fix?
Wash regularly, there are also some lotions available in some stores. My flatmate uses one and she said that it is pretty effective.
Although you should visist a doctor, he knows what is best against those pesky things. Sometimes the doctor will write you a prescription for some medical treatment. Where those blackheads will be removed permantly.
I don't know if I have blackheads or very large pores on my nose or if they're synonymous. I can like squeeze the pores and thick greasy stuff comes out, but it doesn't do any good. Even washing my face doesn't help.
Oratane + Dermaveen = smooth ass skin.
