My acne went away once I started washing my hands. I started washing my hands literally everytime I saw a bathroom; it only takes a minute. I was basically washing my hands 10-15 times a day or more, and after a couple weeks my acne went away.
anyone have some good recommendations for moisturizer? not shit that will break me out, i'm using the acne.org regimen
Finally finished accutane. Dermatologist said it was the worst he's seen. severe chest and back acne. Chest left behind the hyper whatever scars. he said there's nothing to do but that doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure there's a facility in OK to help me. right? :(
how does it look now?
.
will cutting my hair short solve forehead acne?
if so, how long will it take?

It will help, but you still have to make sure your face is as clean as possible.
On a semi related note to the thread, I just signed up to provide DNA samples to a research project on the genetics of acne, awesome.
I have terrible acne. I've been trying all types of different medicines and creams over a few years and nothing has worked, I'm definitely going to have terrible, terrible scars.
I just started with this and I've never felt worse
But it's helping against my acne so I'll finish the 6 months I have left.

Check out Cetaphil or Dermaveen, both really great moisturizers, and won't flare your acne.

Accutane will flare up for like 3 months, just make sure you keep a strict routine and it shouldn't be too bad. I've been on two courses of the stuff and it gets easier every time.
Woah, Chrome just gave me a warning about some malicious links on this page.
I've got a spot on my ball sack

it fucking hurts too
Sorry for the huge bump, but I thought it was necessary. I'm still doing pretty bad with the acne, but today I received Zap-it (which is mostly the reason for the bump) from Melaleuca. It's some membership thing my mom is doing and they had an acne treatment that was pretty well rated. Has anyone used this at all?
Also, little update on the towel trick: it hasn't done shit for me. Either I haven't noticed anything difference or it just doesn't apply to me. I've been doing it for a year(?) now. So it's more of a "sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't"
[editline]3rd August 2012[/editline]
Also will do an update in a month on that Zap-it stuff. Apparently it clears all acne in a month by the looks of most reviews.
Bit afraid that I have scarring because my face is constantly red and I don't exactly see any raised pimples or anything. Maybe it's just flaring that will go away as I medicate with this stuff.
I've not been officially diagnosed, as I've not been to the dermatologist, but at my last checkup the doc said it looks like I've got cystic acne. I've tried basically every single OTC product and none of them really work. (I see some results, but not much). It just comes and goes on its own. It has left me with all four of the types of scarring listed here. I really should go to a dermatologist, but I've been putting it off because right now I'm dealing with stuff getting ready for college. They're probably gonna put me on some sort of pill, which I'm not exactly looking forward to (I have trouble with pills, sometimes I gag on them. Just the idea of taking a pill makes me a bit uneasy), but I guess I'd rather take a pill than have an acne riddled face...
I use benzaclin and it helps a lot for mild-moderate acne.

Hmm, that looks a little like what I have but not as intense. Maybe I should take a visit to the derm.
Hot baths help a lot, I guess you sweat it out and some cream that isn't REALLY for acne helps, Sudocrem
Just Accutane that shit. The side effects are way exaggerated and only mentioned as they have to. Holy shit if you guys saw all the dangers of water you'd stop drinking that too. It's one of those "better safe than sorry" things. Other shit doesn't work, if there was a cream on the shelves that worked then there would be 100% less creams on the shelf. When you got an infection you don't rely on the shit you buy off a shelf, you trust the doctor and what he gives you. Treat acne the same. Get it sorted, see a proffesional, insist on seeing a dermatologist.
They'll try all sorts of tough creams and shit first but then they'll give you the hard stuff if you beg a little. 6 months from now you could be clear and happy.
So what I'm getting from reading this thread is that acne scars are permanent unless you get an expensive surgery to fix them?
fffuuucckk
I took roaccutane, and it left my skin nice for all of 4 months, and then the acne came back. Going back to the derm tomorrow.
I've tried using a fresh towel on my pillow everyday but it doesn't seem to have had any impact. Hopefully I can get prescribed something that isn't roaccutane, because honestly that shit fucked my back up. Not to the extent that I wouldn't want to take it anymore, but it's just a bitch to deal with.

Nah, they can fade, dunno what it depends on
guess it's how bad they are, but I dunno how'd you measure that
Recently started taking cold showers (as cold as I could bear them)
HOLY SHIT my face has cleared up so much.
Had acne since I was 13/14ish and started Roaccutane 2 months ago, my face just doesn't get oily any more and I get the odd spot every week or so, I used to wake up with a bunch of them every day. Hoping for the best, if it feels like you've tried everything just use this medicine, good luck!
I prefer the natural methods with a bit of bought products mixed in.
Wash face for 5-10 seconds with warm water
Use some sort of moisturizer to open those pores
Wash off with warm water
Use lemon juice and apply to spots or use apple cider vinegar
leave on face for ~3 minutes
Wash off with cold water.
Pat dry
And then twice a week
Wash face for 10 seconds with warm water
Cover face in baking soda/water and apply to face as a mask
Let it sit for 10 minutes
Wash face throughly, you'll really start to feel all the oils just streaming off your face its crazy.
Wash off with warm water
Use lemon juice and apply to spots or use apple cider vinegar as a spot treatment
leave on face for ~3 minutes
Wash off with cold water.
Pat dry
Anyone got a really good fix for blackheads? I get them on my nose and I've tried the glue shit but even that didn't work
Never got acne in my life, I just wash my face with clean warm water every morning (for example before brushing your teeth), But as Tacoo said:

All I can do is wish you good look guys (heh).

Yeah same, I usually don't get spots, never had really bad acne, hopefully I still wont but these blackheads, man
I get a few small spots from time to time, nothing serious but it tends to leave red marks. My solution is just to cover that shit up and wait till it goes away.
Leave them alone. Seriously, I cannot express this enough.
There was once a time when I was younger where I had really bad acne. I went to the doctors for a prescription to help calm it down - 250mg of Tetrasyl. Took 4 months to apparently work and did shit all. Tried all the cleansing remedies there were; did nothing at all. I rapidly learnt that the more I picked at them, squeezed them, scratched them whatever the more they would come back, and the more I'd have an outbreak. The reason I soon found out by my own fault was that when I would squeeze a spot, it would leave behind a strange residue that would spread to other areas of my skin. If I were to squeeze a spot on my cheek, whipe away the puss that was there immediately and then carry on as normal, it would spread like wildfire in the next few days. It's because the wound you open up oozes this liquid, and it does so over a 10-12 minute period after you have opened it up. So for about 10 minutes after you've done the deed, your skin is oozing acne puss! And if that puss gets ANYWHERE on your skin, you will have an outbreak. It's like toxic or someshit - you get it on your cheek and lo-and-behold, 48 hours later you have a spot outbreak there. It's really frustrating. So what I did was, when my skin wasn't so bad and I hadn't had an outbreak recently, was squeeze a spot into a tissue and then, either with a completely separate part of that tissue or a completely new tissue, dab at the burst spot. This would dry up the puss, much in the same way dabbing at an open wound dries up any oozing blood. This will stop the spread of that contagious puss-like-stuff, and hopefully keep your skin clean and spot-free.
I hope this helps someone - it was a godsend when I realised it. My skin is now almost flawless!
so i don't really have a lot of acne so much as i have a lot of brown spots
like, every time i get a pimple, it leaves one, and they take months to disappear. i've been using that step 2 thing from proactiv (it's got glycolic acid), anyone know how long it will take for the spots to fade with it?
I was on oratane for about a year or so and it really has worked, my face is clear and my self esteem is more high.
Just a big side note - you'll feel depressed and overthink about thinks when taking it, my best method to treat it was to listen to music, play games or go out with friends.

Are you off of it currently? Any flare ups since you have been off it if so? How is it compared to Accutane?
