what's the climate of the area of the planet we're in right now?
Forests on this world are almost seasonal. Because of the planet's possibly impossible orbit, the planet does a figure 8 between the two suns. Each year is split into two subyears. The dark season and the light season. In between are the harsh summers where the planet has two suns shining on it at all times, during this time most life retreats under the surface, apart from fully metamorphosed scaltrops who retreat further into their rocky shell. Forests are most abundant during winter when the planet has a regular day night cycle.
Winter is the birthing season for most species on the planet, due to the colder temperature and lush vegetation, the forests make it easier for the young to avoid predators. When the animal matures enough it and its companion (Either the mother or other young members of its species) will leave the sanctity of the forest for the wastelands where they can join enormous roaming herds of their species.
Predators tend to stick with their litter for the rest of their lives. On the off chance they'll be separated or exiled.
> flee to your mother and hope she can suck the venom out of the fresh wound before it runs too deep.
Also, since I'm just dabbing into this thread, great artwork, great story, great bio for this planet.
Very successful first interactive, id say.

The venom isn't quite strong enough to completely paralyse a full grown quokenich. Your mother's leg will be paralysed for the next few days though, in the end she will be fine.

A manner of months later, you and your mother are ready to leave the forest to group with a herd before summer can sink its teeth into the land.
What will you do?
> Keep an eye out for Creepers.
or alternatively
> Keep an eye out for hunters.
Ask mother about the herd and summer.
>Walk into a meadow of Skrootsparrows preying on darkspawners.
Not that it matters because the vemon was deemed harmless, but wasn't it the young one that got stinged?
>Look for other young quokenich to venture with, alos potential MATING PARTNER
Nah, the mother budged our hero to the side just in the

Traversing across the plateau is an enormous herd of harkpry gnat, the chorus of the males blowing their horns can be heard from your vantage point.

Getting the same thing here. Weird.
Also, proceed with your mother.

When I saw that,it gave me the idea that this would be badass if each picture was a short animation. This is beautiful,by the way.

You and your mother join the mass of harkpry gnat. The unfamiliarly buzz of inevitability causes you to keep your senses sharp and open.

Nice, I love the attention to detail of the game world
Is it an already existing series or something?
Nope but I've had this planet cooking since early last year, as far as I can remember anyway, quokenich will always be the mascot in a way since they were the first creatures I designed for it.
I've revamped a few things every now and then, golorys used to be men of stone who bled molten rock. All creatures had stony skin and had moss growing on them. Scaltrops are kind of a remnant of that idea, even though the concept of a creature becoming entombed in its own skin was part of the original lot, the fruitbug also hasn't changed roles since its conception alongside scaltropses.
The reason they all have four eyes is left over from when the main focus of the planet was rapid change from underground to outdoor living, but that was changed to a seasonal thing when I decided the planet would orbit between suns rather that just around both of them.
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Burzinetts have been redesigned about 5 times in total, they were originally pretty much the manta rays from hl1 but during last winter I changed all aerial animals to insects and crustaceans.
Almost every other creature was designed around the idea of using horns as instruments. Pry gnats, quokegnats, corelgnat and golorys all have horns that are used for songs and calls, this helps that there are no birds because then all ambience is created by the calls of the gnats.
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
This is the song I use to convey the ambience of the planet:

The nett lunges from the cave into the side of a bull harkpry gnat. The harkpry gnat attempts to swerve to the right but quickly finds himself caught in the nett's needle-like teeth.

As the harkpry gnat writhes and squirms the nett holds his neck down and begins to coil around him, crushing his insides under her thick underbelly.

In case that last panel wasn't clear, it was the warlord blowing his horns.
And due to the formal introduction of the nett, have the other detailed artwork.
