• What's your nearest "near death" experience?

I had a panic attack. Although I was not physically in danger, I assumed I was going to die. It's more of a case of a "near death" experience determined by my mentality, and I'm not entirely sure if it fits with the most common definition of a near death experience.
Playing baseball, took a line drive to the temple. I was out for 8 hours, and lost my recollection of the week or so before it. So, that sucked.
came off my longboard at a pretty fast speed in the middle of the road. Hit myself right around the eye socket, got gnarly cuts all around it. Thing is, despite the possibility of concussion/brain swelling/brain damage, the thing I was most worried about was my board, which was rolling away at high speeds.
Was riding on my scooter out in the country at night, and I looked at the same straight road for so long I mixed the road together with the fields, and suddenly the road took a sharp right. I quickly slowed down and turned, only to be almost smashed by an oncoming car around the corner with no lights on. I almost hit the car, and I wasn't allowed to ride a scooter back then(I know, stupid) because I had a surgery in my ribcage.
Once got a painful joint from masturbating. Doc said if I'd have taken 5 more seconds to ejaculate then it could have been fatal. Dodged a bullet there.
My brother threw a big rock up and it landed straight on my head.
I was riding as part of a cycling event with roughly 300 other cyclist surrounding me with about 1 meter apart between each, suddenly someone pulls out infront of me and gets their stunt pegs caght in my spokes. I flew.
Was hit by a car about a week ago, broke my leg and cracked a rib, because everything was getting dark, I tried to add a little humour while the feeling of shock was stopping me from feeling any pain by thinking I was bleeding out and had roughly 300 moments to get saved. Not so funny when I wake up 3 hours later in hospital in heavy pain caused by broken bones and slight internal bleeding. Edit: Oh and the fact that I was told that the person who hit me drove off, and I was found roughly 7 minutes later by a neighbour of mine walking his dog, where I had already passed out by then, and the heavy scrape on my arm had already made from getting flung and pushed into the road had already made a small 15 by 15 inch puddle of blood.
I remember the one day during the winter it had recently snowed. So my friends and I naturally went to play in it. I got my sled as well as my friends and we decided to go to the steepest hill near our area. This hill was next to train tracks, but there was a fence in between us and the train tracks so we thought it was safe. Well, we learned a very painful lesson. I went for my 13th run down the hill. This time I did a running charge towards the snow to give me more speed. I flopped down onto the sled like a penguin does with it's belly. The speed was incredibly fast and it was such an adrenaline rush. I was so happy, then when I hit the fence, it gave out. I slid in between the ground and the fence. I gored myself of the metal wires, gashes across my chest and arms. When I slid under, my head went over the train tracks, not my body, not head. I was unconscious for a brief moment due to the sudden slam of the fence. When I awoke, there was a train about 10 ft away from my face. I panicked but could do nothing because I was stuck by the fence. A random kid rushed down the hill, grabbed me, and pulled my head up before I got hit by the train. There was a second where, and I swear I'm not making this up, time stalled and as this kid was slowly lifting me up, I felt a chunk of metal skim across the top of my head. I was awe struck and very grateful towards this random kid. This random kid would later be one of the greatest friends I've ever had.
There are some pretty interesting, moving stories in this thread, but I thought this one as particularly heart warming.
Oh oh oh, wait. No, being chased by elephants was mild compared to this. When I was 16, I went to the hospital for: Pneumonia, a chest infection, throat infection, TSS (toxic shock syndrome) and my temperature was 107'f. I first had the flu, then went for a run in the rain (I thought it was just a cold), so I got a chest and throat infection because I screwed up my immune system. That then developed into bacterial pneumonia which was a real bitch. During this, I somehow got TSS because bacterium made its way into my blood or something. I was off school for 3 weeks and I hardly remember anything except collapsing in my kitchen. That sucked :saddowns:
When I hit my head on the corner of a shelf
Either in a pool in Israel (I was like 5) and went to the deep end. Almost drowned, but thanks to the two tanned chicks who got me. FUCKING LIFEGUARD. EVERY SINGLE TIME. OR when I thought the traffic light was green on my side and a bus almost drove into me. Also like 10 minutes ago, while i was bicycling, a guy with headphones on drives STRAIGHT into my side. For no reason.
About 2 years ago I was on my way to the pizza resturant on the corner about 30-40m from where I live, and I saw these kids shooting fireworks.I was thinking to my self "Theyr abit young to shoot fireworks?" they were about 10-11. So I went and I picked up my pizza and when I went to the resturant I was on the other side of the street then where I went now. and the kids were still out. All I could hear was a firework going off and then I felt incredible pain in the right side of my face, the kids accidently shot one at me and it went through my right side of my face into my mouth and stopped. The doctor said it was very close to killing me if it was about 2cm up. I dont know if this counts as near death but I got another one where I almost drowned.
When I was 8 I fell on a big saw, used to cut down trees. Lost some blood and now I have a scar pattern on my left arm.
When I was going to be born, my mom had a really high blood pressure, and it almost got us both killed We both had about 10% chance to be alive, so, I'm happy to be alive
I got hit by a car. Nothing special but still...
Racing down a mountain with friends i had no brakes on a turn friend slowed down i crash into him he falls of i am still on my bike on the floor still going down the mountain ripped fuck out of my knee, well thats the most recent accident. broke ma bike :saddowns:
Not really near death but it felt like it. For about 3-4 years ago i had a disease that made me cough really bad. I woke up every morning by not being able to breath. I had that for about 6 months. A real pain the the ass.
I was caught in the 2003 Marriott Hotel Bombings. Woke up next to a dead person.
I was feeding a chicken once and it thought I was trying to steal it's eggs, so it went mental, feathers flying everywhere, beaks snapping, fucking scary. I was outta there as fast as possible.
Choked on my own shit while I was being born, had to have tubes and shit in me. :v: Was walking down an alley next to my friend's house when he shoved a metal pole through the fence, it pierced my lip, if it was a bit lower it would've hit my throat and probably killed me.
I had quite a few of these experiences, here's a few: When I was like, 7/8 I was playing with some friends at school and some older kids joined in as we where playing "war" (Running around pretending you're shooting each other with sticks for guns :v:), I surprise this older kid, he flips out and nearly chokes me to death, I swear to god I was half a second away from passing out. Thanks to my friend who manage to pull him off though, I didn't, was some scary stuff never the less. Another time would be I was a bit older and I was getting into skating, there was this huge hill where I used to (And still do) live, me and my friend, the same one who helped me in the above story, where pretty much daredevils, so, naturally, we decided to get on our skateboards and go down this hill at high speeds. The car drove around the corner, I pretty much got catapulted over it and landed face first on a gravel road, luckily, the car wasn't going too fast and I got out of it with just some scrapes as it came driving from the side, I didn't break my legs. Though, if I had turned just a few second earlier, shit would've gone bad. Good times.
One of the first places i travelled to during my gap year was San Francisco. I had been staying in the cheapest and biggest dump of a hotel i could find, a Travel Lodge, and it was finally time to move on and travel somewhere else. Waiting for the taxi to take me to the airport, i sat on the kerb and had a cigarette. The weather might have been a good 20 degrees hotter than what i'm used to back home in the UK, but i still found myself sitting there with a hoodie on and the hood pulled up over my head. Out of nowhere something flies towards my head going so fast i don't even see it let alone have time to react. I felt it nick my ear as it shot past and buried itself into the back of my hood. It had enough force to physically drag me back onto the ground and splay me across the pavement. Sitting up and looking around for the jerk who threw it at me i saw noone. Noone had even noticed what had happened, noone was looking over at me, noone was running away. Reaching into my hood i pulled out a large, jagged peice of plastic that weighed about the same as a full grown cat. It had been moving so fast it had actually stuck into the back of my hood and had to be forcefully yanked free. I have no idea how it happened. Even if a person had thrown it at me i doubt they could have done so with that much force behind it. If my head had been even the slightest centimeter to the left it would have certainly taken out my eye and possibly even caved in my face. I still have it somewhere in my house, it is my momento. The chunk of fate that could have decided if i lived or died.
landed face first on a gravel road

I got out of it with just some scrapes
:what:
Ate a hotdog at a school disco. I got an allergic reaction, and It started as an itchy son-of-a-bitch rash, so we didn't take much notice, but I was kept of school just incase. However I eventually stopped eating, even my favourite meals were left untouched by me. So my Mum begins to get worried and we go to the hospital. We get this ace Doctor who knows his medical shit as they should do. He tells mum that I have to take medical steroids to stop what was taking place inside me (which tasted motherfucking horrible I swear to god). It turns out if we hadn't got it checked, my throat would begin to slowly close up, until I couldn't breathe and died of asphyxiation. Scary shit when my mum told my about it. I don't know how long it was from me dying, but it could've been a few more days and that would've been it. The doctor saved my life, a place is reserved in my brain for him now.
1. badass as i was i decided to lie on my back with this huge round candy in my mouth after my grandma warned me not to. it slipped into my throat and i chocked. ran to the bathroom to try and puke it out and knocked out on the way there. woke up with my grandma infront of me offering me some candy. i gladly took it. (i was around 4) 2. at around age of 6 i went to a playground with my friends, and there was this pirate ship on iron rails that rocked back and forth. i decided to fetch some imaginary rum and on my way to the box filled with waterbottles i slipped and fell over the edge with my neck on the rail. an inch before the ship came back to seperate my head from my body my friends pulled me away. god that was frightening
Someone came up behind me and wrapped his arm around my neck. Next thing I know i'm on the ground not knowing what happened.
When I stuck my dick in the zipper. Still have a scar from it. :saddowns:

I was camping out with a couple of friends at a lakeside cabin where one of my friend's uncle lived, and we decided to take out a few small fireworks and dig a hole in a bucket full of dirt to keep them in place. The first two went off normally, but I noticed the third one was kinda tipping to the side. I yelled, "Everyone, run!" as it went off and fell over at the same time. I saw a large spark explode really close to the right side of my face, I didn't get burned but I was deaf in my right ear for about five minutes while I jumped over this small wooden deck and ran to the front yard with everyone else. Any closer and I think my head could've been burnt like a marshmallow. Also, this one time when I was seven years old, my Dad, sister and I were visiting some old friends that we hadn't seen in a while for their birthday, and I was playing down in their basement (Which was like a mix between a playroom and an office space) with some of the other kids who were there. I remember running around this large pole, chasing after one of the kids in a game of tag, when I tripped and smashed the back of my head against a wall. I just slumped down dizzily before I started crying my eyes out, and I was taken upstairs. It took them about five minutes to realize my head was bleeding, so I was taken to the hospital where my Mom was working at the same day. It was a nice surprise to see her, but I was too busy getting stitches in my head to see her that much. Got them taken out a week later and I still have the scar, eight years later.
umm... Got slamed into a glass wall when i was like 7.Went head first into a metal spring that's as close as i got to death [editline]29th October 2010[/editline]
i swimmed in a lake, unaware it was infested with crocodiles. my badass uncle has a tiger, it fucking bited me a flyng silver hammer almost hited me yesterday. and so on... yeah, its like the universe want to kill me constantly. :smug:
Umm...
