It just passed the 2 billion dollar mark. It's officially the first multi-billion dollar movie. Damn.

:aaaaa:
Well they estimate friday saturday and sunday based on the previous trends, so there is no "official" data yet but chances are it beat it. but we wont know for sure until tuesday. Though its always under what it turns out being, the news of beating Titanic and reaching 2 billion will get more people to go so it'll be over the estimate.
Just saw this in IMAX 3D. I had a lot of fun watching it, that's all I can say. Maybe I'll go one more time before they stop screening it.
A movie like this'll play another 150-200 days.

Considering it's listed as $39 million over the 2 billion mark it's safe to say it beat it.

Where can you see how much it has earned?

anyone who is sad because Pandora doesn't exist clearly lives in a depressing area and has never been out of that area. If you've ever been to an area closer to the equator it's pretty much like Pandora only with no floating rocks (because that would be very improbable ANYWHERE in the universe) and no curved rock structures either. Seriously people need to get out of their area more, and if not then at least watch planet earth, and you will see how there are still many beautiful places left on earth. The human race would have to reach 20 billion before there cease being places devoid of or only sparsely populated by humans.

the sun burns out in approx. 4 billion yeas, you are incorrect.
It just beat Titanic as of 6 PM tonight.
I'm sorry boys :(
Absolutely loved the film. It was a little slow at the beginning, but once I twigged to what it was really about (i.e. obvious parallels with the ongoing conflict in the middle east, *oil*, and perhaps most of all the general shittyness of capitalism) I was in tears in pretty much every scene, and I'm surprised how few people here have picked up on it.
...and Unobtainium might be a pretty corny name; but when you consider thats its intended to resemble any rare or 'impossible' material (which could be easily interpreted (in present day context in particular) as oil) then naming it such makes this message clearer (unobtainium already being a well known term which many viewers would recognise), and i feel it is appropriate.
So to reiterate, god damn awesome film.

people haven't picked up on that parallel because it's just as unoriginal as the rest of the movie. and about unobtainium, there are already other scenes explaining that it is valuable and hard to get, we don't need the realism breaking name "unobtainium" it only takes a few minutes of thought to think of a better, more creative name for it. everyone has done it, why cant the wonderful great medium-changing jesus-director james cameron do it?
I give this movie a 7/10, it's gorgeuos on the CGI but the plot is mediocre
Also fyi it just got 9 academy award nominations. Director, Picture, and various FX awards. It's not gonna win director or picture, but it's most likely gonna win everything else:
Picture
Director
Editing
Cinematography
Art Direction
Visual Effects
Sound
Sound Editing
Original Score

It's kind of funny seeing Shrek 2 there.
Saw it before, fucking awesome film, makes you hate the human race though :3
Kinda does make you realise how bad the human race is when it comes to taking land etc..

Humanity's not that bad y'know. At least not any more.
Iraq.
It's fucking ridiculous that it is nominated for Oscar.
You are the first guy I saw with over 10k of posts. Or 15k.
Agree?
I like it but the main reason I liked it was 3d.
8/10
It was a good movie, nice CGI and all, but I don't see how it's the top grossing film of all time.
I went to see it two days ago, but I don't remember anything past the part where he uses his avatar for the first time.
Edit:
Actually, no. I remember cheering for some Mahreen in a mech suit yelling "GET SOME."

Accurate summary of movie?
Never realized how :downs:y they looked until that picture.
I thought it was a good movie but not Titanic good. Titanic didn't have flashy CGI, but you know what it had? A plot.
Story is old, but very interesting.
I was always with the humans side and it was very sad they lost. Hopefully humans come back with big ass Miniguns and Torpedoes.
Even though it has over the top CGI effects, characters still looked little bit unrealistic.
Just saw it, really nice movie. I liked the General guy, reminded me of Duke Nukem.
I loved this film, awesome all the way to the end.
