Say what? I think Cameron should have got Stan Winton Studios to do the creatures like he did with Aliens and Terminator. They always deliver, and don't make trip-tastic colour explosions like the aliens in this.
They aren't even trippy, they're just generic. Blue humans with semi cat ears. Riveting.
Damn contagious parasites.
Sort of like Facehuggers.
Avatar: The Game's trailer looks a lot more badass, though the game will end up sucking much more likely than the movie. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-09-avatar/54752
I'm starting to question why so many people think these aliens are furries. I guess the ones in District 9 must be furries as well.

The Na'vi do look like a whole race of Beast from X-men's younger and sexier cousins, though. Maybe Beast is what a werewolf Na'vi might look like?
I'm starting to question why so many people think these aliens are furries. I guess the ones in District 9 must be furries as well.
Nah they're Buggies.
Sort of like Facehuggers.
Minus the fucking your mouth part.
I'm starting to question why so many people think these aliens are furries. These things are furries because that's all they are, blue humans with animal traits.
No, because they were badass and well designed, a trait unheard of in any furry to ever exist. These things are furries because that's all they are, blue humans with animal traits.
But I don't see any fur. I don't see any yiffing.
But I don't see any fur. I don't see any yiffing.
As said before, scalies. Fur isn't a necessary trait, it's just a common one. Did you miss the obvious love story in the trailer?

This film is for kids. Or girls.
This film is for kids. Or girls.
Avatar = the new Twilight?
I find it amusing how James Cameron spent all this time creating a realistic ecosystem, musical/normal culture, and an entire language for the Na'vi, yet he didn't spend 20 minutes thinking, "Will people really like this?" You know, looking at responses for the Trailer on Youtube, I feel like we may be the minority (after all, people who don't regularely use the Internet for website spelunking wouldn't know that the aliens are suspiciously furry.)
i think the movie looks exciting :sigh:

This doesn't look like a James Cameron movie. For some reason, I got a Time Traveler vibe. Also, it looks fantastic, but you can still tell it's CG. I wish they would stop using it for noticeable scenes until it's developed to the point where you can't tell the difference. A terrible example is I Am Legend.
I went to see the 15 minutes at IMAX 3D, twice. Fucking amazing, really. The 2D doesn't do justice to the CGI, it's fucking unbelievable. At some scenes it looks like they are actors in make up. The facial animation is the best I've ever seen. But yeah, some people will still get off by the design, but I got over it. I suspended my belief and I was like totally immersed. The only shitty part of this is that it made me want to see more, but oh well. This movie can't come soon enough
A terrible example is I Am Legend.
I can't believe the 'zombies' in that were designed by Aaron Simms. He usually comes up with amazing creatures.
I'm not liking those huge chunks of floating land... The FICTION in science-fiction is supposed to be things like FTL travel, not, "let's just ignore gravity, something that we've seen evidence of for... ever!" The morphology of the aliens is also bugging me, and I'm a bit annoyed that the flora is all green, and on top of the fact that it's green, they're bright blue. The environments look stunning though, and it does look like a good movie, just... EVERY SINGLE fucking movie seems to make those stupid mistakes (like making them look almost identical to humans in structure and whatnot). I've not seen District 9 yet (I want to), but the aliens in that are really probably the first ones to wow me in a movie, and yet I've only seen those in a trailer.

(If they were heavier on the bottom it could work, technically.) The magnetic field would probably so crazy that no-one would be able use any kind of metal object in the area though.

Ok. Not looking over 8+ pages to find this. Is it just me or does this look a hell of a lot like the Furry vs. AntiFurry forum wars that go on? Especially the bit with the mechs. The alien race looks like some kind of furry, and god knows AntiFurs just love to use Warhammer 40k mechs in their Antifur campaigns.

I would have read all 9 pages to find it. Doing a lot of other things. DX Gerroff mah back!

But really, the mech you see the trailer just looks like the leftovers from Aliens.
The movie sounds a whole lot more epic now, actually. But really, the mech you see the trailer just looks like the leftovers from Aliens.
I'm tempted to watch it now just to see "Furries" be brutally slaughtered by heavy caliber small arms fire.
