Am I the only one rooting for the humans? No really, like if I give a shit about the Xenos' ideals, they have resources we need so it's either move your ass or be killed. Sadly it seems that most directors don't have the balls to have the "bad" guys win. No, I haven't seen the movie yet (nor have I read any spoilers), but I'm pretty damn sure that the humans are defeated.
Actually I'm rooting for the humans too.
I bloody love this movie. The 3D was amazing. I really loved how real reflections looked
I heard that they rendered all the human actors, and that unlike most movies where they blend CG and live action, the whole thing is in CG... Is that true?
Amazing movie. Best I have ever seen, I believe. 3-D only made the experience that much better as well. I highly recommend that anyone who hasn't seen this movie, should find $10, and go see it. [editline]12:37PM[/editline]
I want to see it in 3D now :( It was just so....I don't know what made it so awesome. It just was, I walked away and felt like a better person knowing that I'd seen Avatar. Also, did anyone notice any of the referances to other films/games throughout the film? I noticed that the battle suit things looked an awful lot like the meintenance suits from Aliens, but at the start, when the marines are all on the shuttle, no-one cracked an "ultimate badass" joke :(
The Mech-suits looked an awful lot like those from the Matrix series.
Avatar is a very expensive-looking, very flashy entertainment, albeit one that groans under the weight of clumsy storytelling in the second half and features some of the most godawful dialogue this side of "Attack of the Clones."
http://www.salon.com/ent/movies/review/2009/12/17/avatar/index.html Also I cannot believe that Cameron named the faggy space-mineral the humans are trying to get "Unobtanium." That's the kind of joke my fucking Chemistry professor would make.
Frankly, when I first saw the trailers, I wasn't too impressed and I was fairly sceptical of the film in general. However, I did see the movie and loved it. A bit cliché at times, with elements that felt like Pocahontas and Fern Gully and even with it's slight nod to the colonial days of North America. Which, in the end worked out fairly well. I don't actually know who I was rooting for. I mean really, they made it clear that you're supposed to hate this guy and that guy, while loving this guy and that guy. In short: despite the clichés, some predictable moments, and some stuff feel like stuff I thought of sometimes; it all worked in a great original film. Without a doubt, some of the best CGI and photo-realism I have ever seen in a movie. [sp]Am I the only one who thought the main villain soldier guy seemed a lot like Rourke from the Disney Atlantis film?[/sp]
OH MY GODOOOODOOD! :iia: Fucking awesome. I cried at the beginning. Oh, and the end, and the middle, and when the aliens were hot.
I saw this in 3D last night twas awesome to say the least. I feel like watching it again Also the Humans in the movie where dicks and tried to take what did not belong to them. They got what they had coming to them
Seeing it this weekend, first 3D movie I have ever seen.
I'm probably going again again tomorrow.
How is the 3D in this, compared to UP? Better I hope?
How is the 3D in this, compared to UP? Better I hope?
Way better. Avatar raises the bar for the usage of 3D in movies.
I saw this today, and loved it. the commander guy was such a fucking badass. [sp] I mean, he jumped out of an exploding helicopter thing whilst he was on fire in a power suit, then knifed the shit out of a space tiger. how much more badass can you get?[/sp]

Gonna see this movie with my girlfriend, better be good. :v:

its a bit of an in joke http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium
I just saw it at about 11:15 this morning. Was pretty goddamn great, in my opinion. Best CG I've EVER seen in a movie, must have used a couple million NURBS on the main characters; excellent soundtrack, and in RealD it looked amazing. Of course, 3D is nothing new or flashy but it definitely made the movie look better. For a damn near half-billion dollar budget I think Cameron put out an awesome movie. Cliche story, but awesome movie.
The Unobtainium part is a nerd joke. Guys, we'll get all of our "Go Human Go" from the Ultramarine Movie, hold tight until that comes out. [editline]04:34PM[/editline] Speaking of "Go Human Go" I want a movie where the humans get the shit beat out of them in the beginning, but by the end of the movie are gloriously glassing the enemy homeworlds, not signing some peace treaty or barely fighting off an enemy invasion force when one of the bad guys realize that the "Humans aren't so bad after all." Bullshit, I want to see them BURN.
Saw it today, storyline was complete clichéd nonsense, but jesus christ it looked jaw dropping. I would have preferred to look at the trees and shit for 3 hours. Needs to be seen in 3D
Cliché story, some logic errors. Now that we got that out of the way: HOLY fucking crap, this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It begs to be seen in 3D. I love that it isn't that "lol we throw balls at you" type of 3D. It's so real, you don't even notice and suddenly you realise that you're seeing it in all glory 3 dimensions. And I liked the natives
Did anybody else notice the Jurassic Park dinosaur noises? I can't remember but either that Hammerhead rhino thing or the predator has the famous T-Rex roar. The horses use the velociraptor sound.
I thought I heard some CS:S sounds while [sp]he was pulling out the grenades on the battle helicopter (now, how awesome is that?)[/sp]. It's not a big surprise though, if a sound sounds good, stick to it.
I'm getting annoyed with my brother and sister, they are both saying they don't want to see this movie in 3D simply because they think it will be disorienting, stupid, and useless. When I argue that the movie is meant to be seen in 3D, they just say, "You know what? Shut up, I don't want to see it in 3D."
The movie was filled with cliche. Everything was so fucking predictable and the montage of the soldier "learning the alien's ways" didn't make the movie any better.
I just saw this movie and it was awesome. That general guy reminds me of that other general guy from AvP the game. You know the one that you fight as a final boss in the Predator story.
It was fucking incredible.
Amazing movie.
